AMD Fusion processors out next year

Netbooks looks set to be here to stay for many more years, co-existing peacefully with notebooks, and that has finally caused AMD to shift gear by catering for a committed netbook processor under their Fusion range that ought to see action sometime next year. It seems that the Fusion chips will have capability consumption in the 10-15 watt range alongside decent integrated graphics performance without the need for Ion-powered graphics, all found in a device no larger than 12" in size. What do you think - will Intel and NVIDIA be quaking in their boots?

Acer To Launch Ultra Thin Notebook With Touch Keyboard And Frameless Display

Reports are in that Acer is planning to launch a new ultra-thin notebook in the second half of 2010. The best part is that that notebook will apparently feature a touch keyboard, and use the back of the panel’s glass substrate as the cover. The use of a touch keyboard will certainly be a big factor in helping Acer keep the notebook’s thickness at bay. Is thickness and weight a major factor when you consider purchasing a new notebook, or are you strong abundant to lug a notebook around, no matter how big or bulky? With more and more manufacturers coming up with ultra thin notebooks, it seems that we won’t need to be going to the gym so often in order to be able to lug our notebook around all day.

Apple files Magic Trackpad trademark

Apple files Magic Trackpad trademark

Apple filed for the Magic Trackpad trademark just today with the US Patent & Trademark Office. We don't have the full details about that device, although Magic Trackpad will most likely refer to an external peripheral device that targets desktop computers and notebooks which are plugged into external displays. After all, with more and more of OS X relying on multi-touch gestures, Apple will most probably offer desktop users a method to take advantage of such a system. Do you think that is just an ordinary trackpad which is taken from a MacBook, or is there more than meets the eye?

LG Display receives Microsoft Windows 7 Touch Logo certification

LG Display receives Microsoft Windows 7 Touch Logo certification

LG Display is first off the blocks among all the other hardware manufacturers to pick up Microsoft's Windows 7 Touch Logo certification, thanks to its 13.3" Capacitive In-Cell Multi-Touch LCD panel which targets noetbooks. It is different from your ordinary touchscreen products, since touch sensors are built into the display itself, making it useful for notebooks which are used outdoors frequently since light reflection and brightness declines are eliminated from the process. Mass production of the panel is expected to roll out in the second half of the year.
