Wacom tablet turns into Cintiq clone
March 15, 2010

Interesting - Lesa Wright has begun to sell enclosure kits which can turn a regular Wacom tabet into a Cintiq clone, and there are kits for a quartet of different models. The kit alone is not complete since you will need to pick up additional parts including a compatible notebook LCD display, a controller kit and a handful of cable extenders. Retailing for around $225 for the kit, it does sound rather expensive at first but the satisfaction of seeing your handiwork working is more than satisfactory.

March 14, 2010

With Apple’s iPad getting all the headlines recently, it seems that the folks by at Toshiba don’t want to be left out of the tablet party, and Jeff Barney, head of Toshiba’s U.S. notebook business, has said that the company is planning to introduce a line of consumer slates (tablet computers) in late 2010 or early 2011. While the market is getting increasingly flooded by the introduction of tablet devices by various manufacturers, we certainly wouldn’t mind one more. After all, more competition means more innovation and lower prices, right?

Empower rocking chair keeps energy for future use
March 9, 2010

Ryan Klinger has come up with the Empower rocking chair that is made up of a flat-pack chair of tubes as well as a sling seat which folds out to a bench-style glider seat. Since the rocking mechanism is connected to a gearbox, DC generator, voltage controller and lithium battery, that means all kinetic energy generated can be used later on. All energy is converted through the use of a DC/AC inverter and can be accessed by a USB or standard potential outlet in order for it to be connected to other devices in dire need of juice, including a notebook, MP3 player or other gizmos.
