[CES 2010] Cars are not the only ones to receive the hybrid treatment as Lenovo dishes it out for notebooks as well, as with the case of their IdeaPad U1. that will be the first PC in the industry that offers users a couple of PCs in a singled-out device, where each of them, when separated, will be powered by their own processor and operating system that can operate independently of each other in either a clamshell notebook mold factor or as a multitouch slate tablet. Featuring a footprint that is no larger than a piece of notebook paper and tipping the scales at 3.8 pounds, the IdeaPad U1 will feature an 11.6″ HD LED display and Windows 7 as the operating system of choice. When the multitouch display is removed, it will operate as a standalone tablet with an ARM processor within running the proceedings alongside Lenovo’s customized Skylight operating system. The incorporation of Lenovo’s Hybrid Switch technology allows both PCs to toggle among the two processors seamlessly. You won’t be able to get your hands on the Lenovo IdeaPad U1 hybrid notebook that fast though, as it will only hit the market that June 1st, where it ought to cost you 10 Benjamins at the most.
