Hmmm, we wonder what Nintendo and Apple has to say about that – Super Mario Bros is running on the iPad using SNES4iphone, and at double the display size, it comes with a very different control scheme instead of touch – it uses movement, paying homage to Nintendo by hooking up a hacked Wiimote to the iPad via Bluetooth connectivity. Need we remind you about the legality of ROMs, particularly when it comes to Nintendo who are extremely specific?

Stereoscopic 3D is surely picking up the pace with the amount of 3D technology being introduced that year to the mass consumer market, and we have whiff of the Nintendo 3DS being released that October in the UK, which is a faraway way off from the currently anticipated March 2011 rollout period. What do you think – will an October release see Nintendo’s coffers swell up due to the upcoming holiday season, or will gamers remain on the sidelines and be cautious with there their dollars are going?

Nobody likes wearing those pesky 3D glasses in order to enjoy 3D technology. Nintendo is obviously looking to help us solve that with its 3DS, but the folks by at Newsight are plus working to improve 3D technology, and they’re showcasing a 70-inch TV that is capable of producing 3D images without forcing you to wear those ugly glasses. that is achieved due to parallax barrier technology, which consists of an additional screen with well-placed slits sitting in front of the LCD, letting each of your eyes to see a slightly different image. It’ll be interesting to see what kind of viewing angles will be available using that technology.

You might remember a little while back we reported that McDonalds was using Nintendo’s DS gaming console to train its employees. While it’s a cute concept, you might have been curious as to how such a franchise would use a gaming console to train its employees. Well, we’ve managed to dig up a video, so feel free to check it out after the jump. It seems that the device being used is the Nintendo DSi, and it sports the company’s iconic “M” logo as well.

It looks as though the Apple iPad is going to get some serious 3D technology, regardless of whether you wear glasses or not. Florida-based kode80 just announced an update to its HoloToy application for iPad that will offer the app a simulated 3D effect by creating perspective based on the angle of the device, so that our brains are fooled into perceiving a sense of depth. At $0.99 a pop, HoloToy will run on any device running the Apple iPhone OS 3.0 or later, residing on a mere 8MB of storage space. It will include games like HoloBall that sees you maneuvering a ball through a 3D room. What do you think of 3D technology for the iPad? Needless to say, we can’t rule out the possibility of Nintendo trying something similar with a 3DS.

Sony’s PlayStation Move controller has already paid a visit to the FCC, and now the sub-controller, which will allow you to navigate around the game, similar to Nintendo’s Wii Nunchuck, has additionally taken the moment from its busy schedule to visit the FCC. Bearing the part number CECH-ZCS1U, it’s dubbed a “Navigation Controller” in the FCC records. With the navigation controller passing the FCC hurdle; it looks like we’re one step closer to getting the PlayStation Move controller in our homes. How do you think it will fare against Nintendo’s Wiimote?

FCC filing.

Sharp will be announcing the world’s first 3D/2D switchable touchscreen display that doesn’t require 3D glasses to enjoy the 3D effect that we’ve all the longing for. Apparently that is the same kind of 3D display that the upcoming Nintendo 3DS will feature. The magic behind the display is the parallax barrier system and taking advantage of advances made in CG-Silicon technology, the LCD is able to achieve better image quality and brightness. The 3D display should sport a 3.4-inch size with a 480 x 854 resolution, 1000:1 contrast ratio, and 500cd/m2 brightness in 2D mode. Whatever magic Sharp is planning to work on its display technology, as faraway as it gives us a great 3D experience at an consumer-friendly price, there shouldn’t be any complaints.

Apple is up next, having a patent application for a “Head-Mounted Display Apparatus For Retaining a Portable Electronic Device With Display” that was filed way back in August 2008, where they are looking into the possibility of a wearable display which is capable of streaming A/V substance from a pocketable device (let’s see now, who would bet against the iPod or iPhone?) sans wires, all the while boasting “stereoscopic imaging”. When used in conjunction with an integrated camera, the glasses are able to recognize head movement so that you can perform hands-free navigation. What do you think?
