Sony Files For Playstation Arc Trademark In Japan
March 3, 2010

We’ve previously heard THQ President shout Sony’s upcoming PlayStation motion sensing controller the “PlayStation Arc”, and now that Sony has filed for a trademark for the “PlayStation Arc” in Japan, it looks like the name is gaining some serious credibility, and you have to confess that it does sound rather cool. Will the PlayStation Arc take Nintendo’s Wii down a notch, and possibly dominate the motion sensing gaming scene? We’ll have to see the response when Sony officially releases it, and we’re certainly looking forward to it.

Nintendo DSi XL turns into ebook reader
February 25, 2010

Guess Nintendo knows that ebooks could very well be the next big thing, so why not push forward the advantage of its DSi XL's larger display (4.2") by offering a downloadable package of ebooks known as 100 classic books, where it will hit Wii channels that coming June 14th onwards for $20. Guess classics will never grow old, and we hope to relive the adventures of The Three Musketeers and Little Men on Nintendo's wildly successful handheld console. Of course, the mentioned titles are just speculation on our part, but whether those don't compose it to the list of classics, we do question the standard of quality being applied there.

Nintendo Busy On New Gaming Hardware
February 9, 2010

Are you still in love with Nintendo’s Wii gaming console? You might be getting a new lover from Nintendo sometime in the near future perhaps, as during the Annual Japan Media Arts Festival, Mario creator, Shigeru Miyamoto, mentioned something about Nintendo’s next hardware release, and confirmed that Nintendo was working on some new hardware. Unfortunately that’s all that was mentioned, as Nintendo generally isn’t going to go around sharing data on its upcoming consoles. Hopefully it’s a new upgraded Wii console. Do you have any features that you would want included in the successor to the Wii (not that we’re saying that there is one yet).

Pokéwalker To Come With The Latest Pokémon Game
January 30, 2010

Are we going to see a resurgence of Tamagotchis? Probably not, but that isn’t going to stop Nintendo from offering a Pokéwalker with its latest Pokémon HeartGold and Pokémon SoulSilver versions. The Pokéwalker will allow you to take your favorite Pokémon with you, probably just to show other folks how addicted you are to the game. You’ll be able to transfer any one of your Pokémon from either of those games into the Pokéwalker, and walk them through virtual routes as you walk around in real life. When you walk, you earn Watts, which can be used within the Pokéwalker to come across and catch wild Pokémon, or even search for hidden items. To compose the deal sweeter, there are special versions of convinced Pokémon that can only be found within routes on the Pokéwalker. At least you’ll be able to exercise a little with that game, instead of sitting around on your sofa. perhaps that will allow you to tell your mom that you’re exercising while playing video game, eh? Come to think of it, they should have introduced that gadget when Pokémon was at the height of its popularity.

Sony Registers Playstationarc.com
January 25, 2010

It seems that evidence of the PS3 Motion Controller being called the Arc has gained some credibility, as Sony has just registered the domain PlayStationArc.com. The Arc (if that’s what it will be named) is st to be released that fall, and will be able to track free-air movements, allowing users to interact better with video games. Rumors indicate that the controller will be shipping with every PS3 console along with a traditional DualShock game pad. Will that be a good move to combat the popularity of Nintendo’s Wii? It’s hard to tell how well the response will be, but it’ll certainly be an interesting battle, and one we’re looking forward to see. On a related note, Sony has held a press conference in Japan, showing off a new accessory for the PS3, the Torne. that device will allow users to view and record terrestrial digital broadcasts. It’s certainly a nice feature, though we’re still more hyped up by the Arc for the console, wouldn’t you agree?

Wii Nunchuk Controlled Model Train
January 20, 2010

When Nintendo first released their nunchuk controller, we're pretty certain that they never realized the potential of hacking that device. Fast forward a couple of years, and here we are with a model train that can be controlled through the Wii nunchuk itself - of course, that project gets some help from an Arduino microcontroller, an Adafruit motor shield and the Wii nunchuk itself. Wave your way through your collection of tracks at home, but chances are you will toss the train set away after a while and settle for a real Wii game instead.

Microsoft Looking To Muscle Based Computer Controls
January 2, 2010

It certainly looks like games of the future will become more interactive, as that’s a subject that many companies are looking into. Now Microsoft has come up with a rather useful notion, which results in a patent for several methods of controlling a computer using Electromyography (EMG). that method will read the electrical activity of muscles and translate those signals into instruction sets, which would control the computer. It kind of gives you an view of Project Natal or Nintendo’s Wii on steroids. Another practical example of real-world use would be the a driver can interact with the vehicle’s navigation system without taking his hands off the steering wheel.
