While it might look uncomfortable initially, you can’t deny that the Nike Straphand concept, designed by French designer Valentin Sollier, looks very futuristic. Instead of having to wear it around your wrist, the Straphand belongs on your hand, and offers the usual functions of a SportBand. The main difference with the Straphand is that it offers a USB connection via a docking station, allowing users to compare their performance with that of other athletes around the world, perfect for those who are very competitive.

Who would have thought that an ordinary shoe could one day see life as a turntable? That’s precisely what happened with the latest Japanese campaign for Nike’s Free Run+ running shoes, where it apparently markets the bendable qualities of its new footwear. Nike decided to enlist sound artists to convert its product into a musical instrument, where shoes are plugged in, turned on and mixed up in a DJ battle-style. There is no visual trickery involved since the shoes are really controlling digital sound live – now how about that! Hopefully new sneakers are used as old ones are obviously smelly!

Firstview HK Electronic Limited has come up with a SmartBook that will only cost $65 to manufacture, dubbed the Nike PC706V. While we’re not certain whether a convinced sports company will see red by the name, we do know that it is powered by Google’s Android 1.6, but has the potential to be upgraded to the latest Android 2.1. Depending on the configuration, the device could cost within $65 to $200, but its low entry cost should help kickstart the SmartBook market. Specifications of the Nike PC706V include:

Spousal abuse might be something that is left covered up due to stigma, but it should not be tolerated. Enter the efforts of doctoral students at MIT who are developing clothing that comes packed with sensors which can record physical abuse discreetly. that could potentially see your future blouse supply evidence against violent perpetrators in the court. Right off the bat, we’re thinking that Tiger Woods could surely prepare do with one of these (of course his will come with a Nike logo emblazoned across) so that his wife might think twice before letting loose his clubs on him.
