Sister site SlashGear has offered up its wrap-up of all the slick new stuff that will be found in OS 4.0 when it lands. The new OS will add a litany of new features to the iPhone that we will all be glad to get.

A new patent from Apple has surfaced that outlines new NFC features for the handset. The patent shows a way for user to pay for things using their iPhone and a credit card.

Do you like finding new stuff and adventure? GPS seems to have taken the fun out of bringing the old compass and map on a hiking trip, don’t you think? Well, whether your GPS device is spoiling all the fun, you could always pick up one of these conceptual digital compasses, and ditch your existing GPS device at home. You can configure the location that you want to go through in it via your computer (connected by USB), and the light around the ring in the compass will point in the general direction of your wanted location, going from red to blue in a gradient of colors, depending on how close or far you are from your desired location. Of course, it seems a little counter-productive, considering those turn-by-turn GPS devices could give you the exact directions, but next again, where would the fun be in that, right?

While Google is doing quite well (to say the least) with its search business, it’s great to see that Google is still paying attention to details and willing to try out new stuff. Google’s vice president of search product and user experience has said that Google will soon start analyzing a new permanent sidebar on its results page. It seems that users are happy with that direction that Google is taking, and it would certainly help us filter through the giant pile of details from Google.
