Electric cars are nice little things, but one of the major downsides of such vehicles is the moment it takes for these devices to charge, making them impractical for expanded drives. JFE Engineering Corp might have a solution to that, as they have developed a new electric car charging station that is able to supply your electric vehicle (EV) a 50 percent charge in just 3 minutes. The charging station won’t come cheap, as a individual charging station is expected to go for a good $63,000. Another drawback of that solution is that it would require some modifications to your EV’s software and systems, though whether you really do want it to be charged quickly, it would probably be quite useful to adopt that, right?

Guess driving around in Japan is going to be a joy with devices such as these GPS navigation systems from Pionner – after all, they seem to come packed with a wide range of features that would form you breathless when you recite it. We will concentrate on the high end model today which bears a whopping €3,000 price point, where you get a 7” (800 × 480 resolution) display, a 12Seg TV Tuner (12×1Seg), DVD and CD playback, Digital Signal Processor capabilities, an 80GB hard drive, Bluetooth connectivity, MP3 playback, an optional iPod/iPhone connector (optional) and even a CO2 calculator to boot! Never mind whether you get lost, at least you can drive in style.

Mini is all set to roll out a new system known as Mini Connected at the Geneva Motor Show, where it is touted to offer “a newly developed USB interface whose rare functionality allows maximum integration of the iPhone into the in-car audio and infotainment system.” We can’t wait but see such entertainment integration being made in other vehicles of the future, and will certainly look forward to that new innovation particularly with Mini: Mission Control in which “vehicle-related signals are used to generate constantly changing, situation-dependent messages.” Apart from that, Mini Connected will be launched as an option on the Countryman. Saving up for a new car after reading that?

Most folks wouldn’t be too excited of getting an in-car media device such a radio, though there are plenty of folks out there wanting to pick something simple, yet cool and functional. that device features a pause/play button that comes with the unit, allowing users pause live radio and see what’s going on around them. That being said, it can only record up to 20 minutes of live radio, so you wouldn’t want to be on the device for too enlarged.

Can’t afford to buy a new car? Well, whether you like to take risks, and feel you’re very good at DIY, you should check out what the folks by at Top Gear did. With a mere 18-hours, they came up with the Hammerhead Eagle i-Thrust, which is the good-looking car you see in the picture above. After getting feedback on the car, the response was quite clear: it’s dangerous. That being said, it still looks cool, right? Check out a video of it here.
