Flinc: Mobile Location-based App for Dynamic RideSharing
March 22, 2010

[DEMO Spring 2010] Flinc leverage the mobile phone location-based capabilities to connect passengers and drivers who want to carpool with a financial compensation for the car owners. The service can be used on smart phones or online: it analyzes the traffic in real instance, allows passengers to identity available seats in cars belonging to the drives in their network, lets them send ask to be picked up, enables real day confirmation by the drivers and sends directions notification for pick-up. Dynamic ridesharing might one of the solutions to reduce our carbon footprint, save money on gas and parking and benefiting from more flexibility than public transportation. Flinc needs help to decide where to launch first, go to www.flinc.mobi, look for our Where's flinc project, choose a place on the map where you want to see flinc and share a seat in your car or someone elses.
I have already seen a dynamic ridesharing system at DEMOFall 08: Avego by Mapflow, a company based in Ireland. Flinc comes from Germany, and I will ask them how they compare to their Irish competitor.

Details On Upcoming AMD Processors Leaked
March 19, 2010

AMD should be releasing its desktop-oriented 6-core processors, codenamed Thuban, next month. The first release should see four chips, the Phenom II X6 1035T, 1055T (in 95W and 125W TDP versions), and the 1075T being released. The chips, manufactured on the 45nm technology, should be sporting 9MB of cache, not to mention an integrated DDR3 memory controller. While there isn’t any pricing info available just yet, thanks to leaked CPU support lists, we do know that the X6 1035T will sport 6-cores at 2.6GHz, while the X6 1055T will be clocked at 2.8GHz. Finally, the Phenom II X6 1075T will be clocked at 3.0GHz. Do you think that the chips will give Intel’s Core i7 a run for its money?

Asus stops shipping recovery DVD with Eee PC
March 13, 2010

The folks at Asus seem to have finally got it, as the top management decided to stop manufacturing as well as shipping the recovery DVD which comes with each package of the Eee PC. Why, you ask? Just in case your memory eludes you, there is no optical drive with the Eee PC, so you will need to fork out more money to get an external DVD drive instead, and it would be interesting to do a simple survey and find out just how many Eee PC users actually own a DVD drive. Good shout, Asus, better late than never and at least you will do your bit in saving the environment.

iPad comes with info limit warning
March 12, 2010
It seems as though the iPad support page has revealed more than Apple might have liked to, where we now know that iPad 3G owners who choose the limited 250MB details plan will be greeted with a input limit warning once you approach the 250MB limit, popping up at intervals of 20%, 10% and no goods remaining. These input alerts are meant to earn the mobile carrier more money - wait a minute, we meant giving you the option to top up your notes plan for more portable surfing. Well, at least there is some degree of corporate responsibility without robbing consumers blindly!
