T-Mobile USA To Offer iPhone In Late 2010 Or Early 2011?
March 19, 2010
According to a recent interview, RenĂ© Obermann, CEO of T-Mobile USA parent company Deutsche Telekom, has mentioned that T-Mobile USA might start offering the iPhone as soon as late 2010, or early 2011. While the carrier’s current focus is obviously on Google’s Android OS, getting the iPhone on its network would be a great move, considering the huge appeal of Apple’s mobile phone. Does that mean that Apple’s exclusivity deal with AT&T is be going down the drain? Are you looking forward to T-Mobile offering the iPhone, or do you think that Android devices are the way to go?

DroidSecurity Gets 10,500 New Users Within 24 Hours
March 17, 2010
It seems that the recent incident, where a bunch of Vodafone HTC Magic smartphones were shipped with the Conficker and Mariposa viruses, has highlighted the issue of mobile device shield to users. As a aftermath, it seems that DroidSecurity managed to get a healthy 10,500 new users to download its mobile device shield solution in the 24-hours that followed the discovery of the virus. While the virus itself didn’t affect the mobile phone, but when the phone was plugged to a PC using a USB connection, the user ran the risk of getting infected by said viruses, not to mention a Lineage password stealer was plus found on the device. Does that mean that we should have antivirus scanners running on our mobile phones all the instance in the future?

Palm Pre Supports Flash 10.1 But Not Hulu.com
March 17, 2010
While a great many mobile devices out in the market don’t support Adobe’s Flash, it’s nice to see a video pop up showing Flash 10.1 running on the Palm Pre (at last week’s Game Developer Conference). The good news is that Flash works, as you can see from the video it can even take advantage of the accelerometer. The poor news is that Hulu.com doesn’t seem to work, and considering the popularity of the site, seems like a major disappointment. How critical is it for you to get Adobe Flash running hunky dory on your mobile phone, or is it just another annoyance for you? Video of the Palm Pre visiting Hulu.com and fiddling with some Flash games after the jump.

Facebook To Launch Camera Friendly QR Codes?
March 16, 2010

Word is going around that Facebook could be examining the usage of QR codes on its site. In case you aren’t familiar, QR codes are like a 2D bar cipher for your mobile phone, allowing your phone to easily scan the QR cipher and get the knowledge. It seems that Facebook might use these QR codes for profile and status urls, which would probably come in handy whether you fiddle with Facebook a lot on your mobile phone (don’t we all?) Facebook hasn’t officially confirmed or denied that feature just yet, so it certainly seems like there could be a possibility of seeing that feature sometime in the future. whether it were to be implemented, it’ll be interesting to see how it will be used. An example would be businesses could use it to point customers to Facebook pages by embedding the QR codes in TVs and print ads.

Samsung Gets Android Trademark For Mobile Hardware Sales In Korea
March 16, 2010
If you doubted Samsung’s commitment to Google’s Android operating system, the latest news that Samsung managed to acquire the Android trademark for mobile hardware in Korea should clear any doubts that you had. It seems that Korea has two separate trademark systems for hardware and software. So while it doesn’t affect Google’s Android OS, Samsung’s trademark deal means that other manufacturers can’t release Android-branded devices, regardless of whether it’s a mobile phone, PMP, PDA, GPS unit or anything, in the Korean market. Considering that competitors such as LG plus are busy working on Android-powered devices, that is certainly going to create some tension in the mobile scene by in Korea.
