Qiao Sheng A45 cellphone

The Qiao Sheng A45 cellphone sports a really alternative mold factor (although Nokia did come up with something like that in the past), coming in a high lacquered finish and a display which is capable of rotating through 180 degrees while functioning as a make-up mirror as well. Meant to be the ideal handbag accessory, the Qiao Sheng A45 is equipped with a 2.2" mirror touchscreen display, a 3-megapixel camera and a user interface that only folks who have yet to be spoilt by something classier can love.

LG GD880 Mini

LG GD880 Mini

[MWC 2010] The much anticipated LG GD880 Mini, touted the "smallest and slimmest 3.2-inch full touchscreen on the market" by LG is finally officially launched. I briefly saw it a few days ago, the design is elegant and sleek giving the phone a mirror-like look. The new "Social Network Connect" interface that allows users to access the social web (aka Twitter and Facebook built-in apps) easily seemed well designed as well, I did not play with it though. Additionally, LG, following the trend, implemented a Social Network Feed that pushes notifications and updates from all the user's contacts.

The most noticeable hardware features are the 5 megapixel camera, the 7,2 Mbit/s HDSPA connectivity, the 16:9 ratio 3.2"display, the A-GPS and the Wi-Fi support. It will be available in Europe early May and it will retail without a plan for 400 Euros (in France). We will update the post with the US availability and pricing soon.

Recycled Hard Drive Clock

We’ve seen some pretty wacky hard drive clocks in the past, and here’s one that will probably look quite comfortable on your desk. Done by the folks by at TEcoART, it’s made from a recycled hard disk, and the clock dial is an actual mirror-finished disk platter. The base of that clock is made from the circuit board from a computer’s modem boosting its geeky credentials ever so slightly. Each of these clocks will come with a signed and numbered certificate of authenticity. At $36, it makes for a rather nice novelty item, perfect for the computer loving nephew of yours. Of course, whether you’re really into DIY, you could always come up with one of these yourself, which should certainly look interesting.

SilverStone HDDBoost is hard drive on steroids

Computer performance enthusiasts would certainly welcome the SilverStone HDDBoost into their fold, considering that peripheral touts the ability to boost hard drive performance by up to a whopping 70%! It will hook up from one 2.5" SSD to any 3.5" hard drive. When connected, the hard drive will get to work by creating a mirror of the front end input of the hard drive, copying everything by to the SSD which ought to go a towering way in helping your machine access such stored files in a speedier manner. Even better news is there isn't any need for special software to take advantage of the HDDBoost. Currently available in Japan only at the moment, the SilverStone HDDBoost will retail for approximately $50. is mandatory. Just plug the drives in and the hardware takes care of everything automatically. The total price is around $50, although the device is only available in Japan right now. That should change whether that thing really does work as advertised. It sounds like the perfect stop-gap among HDDs and SSDs.

Opus Microsystems open talks with Sony

Opus Microsystems open talks with Sony

Opus Microsystems and Sony could come together in the future, with the latter having plans to design an in-house pico-projector module that should see action in digital still cameras thanks to Opus' scanning mirror chips. whether that collaboration comes to fruition, next we could see yet another option of viewing the collection of snapped photos on a display which is much larger than the integrated LCD panels in digital cameras without having to hook up your device to a TV. Such a development is interesting, but we hope that battery technology will be able to keep up, otherwise you will find that using the projector often will see your camera’s ability supply drained faster than Usain Bolt completes a 200m race.

Samsung To start Mass Producing AMOLED Touch Screens

Samsung To start Mass Producing AMOLED Touch Screens

Samsung Mobile Display has announced that it will start mass producing the world’s first touchscreen AMOLED panel in March. It’ll be a 3.3-inch WVGA (480 x 800) resolution AMOLED panel. Until now, touch screens were made by separately connecting the display and the touch panel, but now Samsung has placed a touch sensor by the mirror display. With the sensor’s thickness at just 0.001mm, it allows the screen to offer high-quality images. With display and touchscreen technology getting better and better, we’re certainly looking forward to the cool devices that will be released.
