The Apple iPad has certainly rocked the tablet industry since its release, but it has hardly been a game changer. Still, its presence in the market is decent to entice manufacturers from China to come up with clones, and Liweitech is up to the challenge with their yet unnamed device which runs on Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate. that media capable ebook reader will run off an Intel Atom N270 processor and ought to be more pricey compared to a regular iPad clone, although the final price point could probably be less than an actual iPad. As with all the other clones, without proper back-end support when it comes to downloadable substance, is it even worth your moment and money?

Microsoft has issued a statement that their latest update will skip installation on machines infected with the Alureon rootkit malware, so those affected will need to find help elsewhere and remove it before the patch can be applied. that is considering in infected system could very well crash whether the update is completely installed, hence making matters worse, and not considering of Microsoft is taking the opportunity to have everyone move on to Windows 7 through a devious means such as that.

Toshiba has confirmed that it’s planning to offer several devices, dubbed “slates” that will be powered by Google’s Android and Microsoft’s Windows 7 operating systems. The Android-powered device will most likely be competing with Apple’s iPad, particularly when you take into explanation that it will be offering a 10-inch display and will feature a lower price point. The Windows-powered version will apparently be a higher-end model and the possibility of a dual-display feature. Let’s not forget that Toshiba isn’t a stranger to the tablet market, as the company already has the Journe Touch by in Europe, which is additionally a tablet-like device that runs on a version of Windows CE. It’s fairly safe to expect that Toshiba’s slates should be arriving sometime late that year or early 2011. Stay tuned!

Ford is currently purring by the sales figures of its Ford SYNC, as the company’s popular voice-controlled communications and infotainment system has now been installed on more than 2 million Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles. Making the deal sweeter is the fact that the first SYNC systems were delivered in fall 2007, and it only took Ford 10 months since it delivered its 1-millionth SYNC-equipped vehicle to break the 2-million barrier. The Ford SYNC was built on the Microsoft Windows Embedded Automotive software platform, and allows users to control devices such as mobile phones and digital media players via simple voice commands, the vehicle’s steering wheel, or radio controls.

The folks by at Opera must be smiling from ear to ear after Microsoft was forced to introduce the Windows Web Browser Choice Screen in Europe. The Web Browser Choice Screen prompts users whether they want to download competing browsers such as Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and Opera etc. Now Opera is reporting that the number of downloads has more than doubled across the European continent, with some countries even indicating that the download rate has tripled. According to the stats released, 53% of the downloads came from the Choice Screen, and considering that the Choice Screen was rolled out in early March, it certainly provides an interesting twist in the browser wars.

Microsoft has started to talk about Windows 7 Service Pack 1 (SP1), as well as Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1. Despite Microsoft not officially announcing a beta or instance of release for the service pack, word is going around that SP1 might be arriving as early as that month. Windows Server 2008 R2 will be getting some rather cool features for Microsoft’s desktop virtualization platform, namely Microsoft Dynamic Memory and Microsoft RemoteFX. Windows 7 will be getting the usual bunch of hotfixes, as well as an updated Remote Desktop client that takes advantage of the newly-introduced RemoteFX on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1.

More knowledge by at Microsoft’s official announcement.

Editor’s note about the Video: the demo was done on a vertical monitor, I shot it in portrait, you may have to turn you screen to watch it more comfortably.

[SXSW] Microsoft launched Windows Phone 7 at MWC in Barcelona and we saw the demo there, yesterday, the Microsoft representative at SXSW showed me a demo and I videotaped it, so, you can check it out. Windows Phone 7 is still in beta mode and the user interface is similar to the Zune HD’s one is based on tiles that are visually appealing and friendly to the fingers. I like the design and the ease of use, the organization of the users’ goods with tiles and “hubs” brings most of the user’s notes access at the top level (the phone home page).

While Microsoft has made it known that that most Windows Mobile 6.5 handsets won’t be able to construct the upgrade jump to the Windows Phone 7 Series, there is still a small trick left – relying on the beta version of a Windows Phone 7 theme for Windows Mobile. Getting your game on is pretty simple by downloading and installing a .cab file, where among the features made available will include Live tiles with rotating pictures, a Bing search utility with a background that will change to match the Bing picture of the day, as well as a program launcher which resembles the Windows Phone 7 Series/Zune HD app launcher. Don’t expect that to be refined since it is still in beta mode.
