Nokia has delayed its Symbian^3 operating system, which in turn has spooked investors. After all, Nokia has seen its market share being cannibalized by Apple’s iPhone as well as the rise of other Android-powered smartphones, so a delay in its latest operating system isn’t something that would help the FInnish company improve on its quarterly earnings report. that has sent share prices plummeting by 12%. Do you own some of their shares for the towering term or in the short term?

Lenovo has plus just announced a Lenovo C200, an all-in-one Netop that features a dual-core Atom D510 processor and an NVIDIA Ion graphics processor with 256MB of video memory. that model should not be confused with an old Lenovo C200 that was a laptop. With that all-in-one computer, Lenovo expects to grab more market share in the $400-$500 touch PC segment. It comes with Windows 7 and should be good sufficient to play DVDs and run casual games. Technical details are in the full post, the C200 has not yet showed up on the Lenovo C-Series page.

Interesting – US search market figures for last month by Nielsen points towards the ascension of Microsoft’s Bing with Google’s market share figures dropping. With Bing being the default search engine for Net Explorer and Motorola’s range of Android-powered handsets, Microsoft must be doing something right to keep ‘em coming back for more. Proportionately speaking, Bing experienced a 14.7% increase compared to Google – which is a totally different story from its traditional path which came at the expense of Yahoo instead. Where do you think will be Bing’s saturation point?

Nokia might be the number 1 cellphone manufacturer in the world at the moment, but their market share is eroding slowly but surely no thanks to newcomers to the scene. Well, in a move that could see them claw back what used to be theirs, we have word that Nokia has agreed to partner with Alpine to offer integrated Nokia handsets alongside free Ovi Maps navigation into vehicle dashboard systems. Apart from that, you will be able to interact with widgets that monitor your fuel level as well as engine condition while you’re on the road. that development ought to see action in the near future, and we’re stoked.
Nokia has seen its market share decline in many countries slowly but surely despite clinging on to the top spot still. Well, in a move that could rejuvenate their business, Nokia is waiting to roll out dual SIM S40-powered handsets that will boast a touchscreen display and a QWERTY keyboard – all the while staying true to its affordable price point that has been the staple feature of all its S40 phones so far. Guess Nokia will still be top dog for a few more years unless someone really shakes things up at the entry level segment.

Google has been pushing its Chrome web browser very hard to the world: we have seen ads all by the place (USA, Asia and Europe) and all these efforts are getting some traction: Since April 2009, Chrome’s market share has gone from 1.79% to 5.61%. Arguably, growing from 1.79% is not as difficult as growing from 20% or 60% but it is still a significant achievement, and it seems likely that Chrome will continue to gain market share considering it is a good browser.

I would be very curious to know what the cost of acquisition “per install” was, given the marketing blitz that Google has unleashed. The second thing is: what happens when the campaign stops?

Although Microsoft’s World Wide Web Explorer share is decreasing steadily, each date a customer buys a new PC or does a fresh install of Windows, the game is “reset” back to having Microsoft’s World Wide Web Explorer as the default browser. that is still an inherent advantage that Microsoft holds, and one that has been challenged in Europe – even whether most PC customers don’t know. Personally, I use Chrome along with Firefox, which is still my main browser considering of the Firefox plug-ins. What kind of user are you?

Fujitsu has just launched a more cost-effective device using its PalmSecure technology that reads a palm’s veins pattern to identify individuals. whether you wonder, the blood has to circulate so cutting a hand like it is sometimes shown in movies won’t work with that. We don’t really consider that to be a consumer device, but Fujitsu hopes to gain market share, thanks to a lower price point (how much precisely, is unknown at posting time). PalmSecure is designed to be integrated in computing environments where a biometric recognition would replace many passwords, just like a master password and something like Roboform would do, except that you can’t forget your password.

Research and advisory company Gartner recently rolled out its worldwide cellphone sales report for the past year, where the smartphone category was the fastest growing one, seling 53.8 million units in the last quarter, with Symbian remaining at the top with its 46.9% of market share while RIM hit 19.9% from 16.6%. The iPhone OS nearly doubled its market share though at 14.4%, while Android made significant gains to touch 3.9% from just 0.5% the year before. Windows Mobile is a big loser, stooping to 8.7% from 11.8%. Perhaps Microsoft’s fortunes will change with the introduction of Windows Phone 7.

While Creative seems to be pretty substance sitting at where it is at in the world of portable media players with a miniscule market share, that does not mean they do not care about their customers, as evident by the release of the X-Fi 2 ADK (Application Development Kit). that Lua-based system allows devs to “code their own interesting applications and customize the ZEN X-Fi 2.” Apart from that, you can plus “create and debug games and applications right from one’s Windows PC.” Interested and raring to give it a go?

That VeriFone PAYware iPhone credit card system that turned up a while back is now officially shipping. The app part of the system is free and the hardware card reader can be purchased at VeriFone dealers.

AppleInsider reports that despite booming sales for the last quarter on iPhones, the device still lost a bit of market share. The reason is that the entire smartphone market saw some impressive growth.
