GlideTV: User Interface To Watch TV with the Navigator Remote
March 22, 2010
[DEMO 2010] We have selected the GlideTV Navigator in our Uber10 2009 list, and today, the company has launched the on screen user interface to go with it. From the screen shots that I received, the application looks pretty promising, offering a visual gallery of all the shows available across multiple sites categorized by genre, an on screen keyboard to search by name, and a one-stop screen to access the major TV channels, the online video and music providers and the most popular websites such as Amazon or Facebook.
We selected the Glide Navigator for its sleek and elegant design and the need that media center users have for efficient remote controls that look good in the living room. The new user interface gets the same design quality and fits perfectly the device design. Check out the photo gallery to see the user interface and the device pictures. Features from the manufacturer are available in the complete commentary, along with the GlideTV competitive comparison chart (provided by the company).

Chirita Louis XVI computer oozes with class
March 20, 2010

Chirita commemorates its 10th anniversary with the Louis XVI computer - a steampunk retro computer which is fit for royalty. Meant to blend in the elegance of a majestic living room or office, that computer is made out of brass, bronze, alabaster, malachite and lapis lazuli, while most of its metal parts are covered with gold leaf. The asking price for such luxury? €13,000. Now we truly know that the economic recovery is well underway.

Miniature City On A capability Strip
March 13, 2010

This potential strip that was sighted at a graduate show at the Kyoto University of Art and Design certainly looks detailed and eye catching. The only downside is that it doesn’t do anything special. It would have be a whole lot cooler, albeit a waste of electricity, whether the ability strip were to light up mini lights in the miniature city, but you can’t win ‘em all, right? Would you want a potential strip like that in your living room, or do you think that it’s a complete waste of space?
