Guess pulling the tail of the teddybear robot won’t aftermath in him biting you unlike Lassie, eh? A camera is located in the bear’s nose, where it will go about detecting human faces and actions while responding with by 300 actions, including giggling and laughing to waving its paws and taking a nap. Heck, to compose it more ‘human’, it even snores! Who would have thought that humans would turn to robots for comfort in the future?

You know that when it comes to safety of your offspring, you would spare no expense. Hence, booster seats in your vehicle are a must, since it helps buckle up your little ones safe and sound during a faraway journey. How about letting them carry their own load instead when they reach at their destination? that is made possible thanks to the BoostApak, since it comes with a hard plastic shell that caters to kids aged from 4 to 11, and is ergonomically designed to “protect growing spines and energize better posture.” No view on how much it will cost, but do keep a keen eye out for it when the BoostApak hits the markets that April.

Asus seems bent on capturing just about every market when it comes to their Eee PC range, with the Eee PC 1001PQ targeting your little ones with the latest Intel Atom N450 processor running within. Expec to see the Eee PC 1001PQ launched at CeBIT tomorrow, where you can choose within Yellow and Black as well as Black and Purple color combinations. What makes that stand out for kids would be its colored palm rest, but apart from that expect it to work like just any other netbook including its rather staple specifications such as a 10.1″ LCD LED Backlit WSVGA resolution (1,024 x 600), 1GB RAM, a 160GB hard drive, an Intel NM10 Express chipset, a VGA webcam, a memory card slot, Wi-Fi connectivity, and Windows 7 as the operating system of choice.

Remember the crazy amount of quarters that you have spent by the years at the arcades, trying to pick up soft toys and cellphones from a transparent box? Well, you can now do so from the comfort of your own home, with the DIY Home Crane Game. that ought to keep your little ones happy while saving you a whole lot of moeny, as it relies on Arduino controls to keep all the various motors within the system running like a well-oiled machine. Heck, perhaps you can charge your neighbors’ kids a dime instead of a quarter?

Mention video game consoles and you will most probably be faced with just a trio of answers – the Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and Sony PS3. Well, think again – the Swinxs gaming console is now available Stateside despite it being announced a good two years back, having launched in Europe last year. The Swinxs is touted to offer hours of recreational entertainment through the use of lights and a built-in voice which will explain the game while recognizing players and doubling up as a referee. Since it is screen-free, you won’t have to distress about not owning a TV in your living room. Capable of accommodating up to 10 players while featuring 26 games to keep your little ones entertained, it would certainly be interesting to see how the $150 Swinxs fares in the towering run against its technologically superior rivals.

Watched the movie Spy Kids with your family, only to have the little ones bug you about getting them the latest spy gear, never mind that you’re already on the dole? Well, assuming you managed to pick up a job along the way, you might want to consider setting aside $120 for the Spy Video TRAKR remote controlled robot which is the first toy of its kind that can run on pre-programmed applications, thanks to special filters and routines which can be input and even shared online. Sounds suspiciously familiar like Lego’s Mindstorms line, but let us concentrate on the Spy Video TRAKR instead. It comes with a camera which will stream video (no concept on its resolution) straight to a full color LCD display on the remote, where both videos and stills can be saved onto an SD memory card. Perfect tool for scaring the family pet, as it has a microphone that allows you to remotely give commands. Guess kids who have that will probably look just as smug as the boffin on your right. [Press Release]

Guess the moment honored tradition of reading bedtime stories to your little ones before they nod off could vanish one day due to the advent of e-books. Take a look at the number of e-book readers in the market already, and with the impending launch of the Apple iPad, it seems as though the ordinary book doesn’t hold any more appeal, particularly to the younger generation.
