Every guy out there probably loves robots one way or another, and what better way to pay tribute to robots than by erecting a giant statue of one of the most popular robots ever – Gundam? The folks by in Japan have come up with the 18-meter, life-sized Gundam statue, which was previously taken down before. Now the giant robot is back, and it has a giant lightsaber to accompany it, in case anybody decides to take it down again. that giant statue will be located in the city of Shizuoka that July, and is estimated to draw 900,000 visitors and 40 billion yen by the course of 300 days. Not too shabby, even after taking into history the effort to put up such a statue, and manufacture the lightsaber light up, no less.

Here’s a little something that might allude to the traditional thinking that Japanese men are shorter in virtually all aspects – the 5″ Japanese Lightsaber USB Thumbdrive which comes in a cute (and small) design factor, holding not focusing crystals but 1GB of storage space. They will come in red and blue colors that represent Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker respectively, where plugging them into any available USB port would emit a nice glow, although we would have plus liked to take in that lightsaber activation “swoooosh”. that $19.99 purchase ain’t a fly-by-night offering, since they are part of the officially licensed Lucasfilm collectibles.
