JVC has started to ship its Everio GZ-HM1 camcorder that is more than capable of handling native 1080p video capture, but its main draw would be its ability to capture in low light conditions, thanks to its 10.6-megapixel, back-illuminated CMOS sensor that works in lighting as dim as four lux while being sensitive to light sensitivity as high as ISO 6,400. Since that is positioned as a semi-pro camera, the HM1 will plus boast manual controls that can override aperture, bracketing and shutter speed when mandatory. It comes with 64GB of internal memory that can further be augmented by another SDHC memory card. Expect the JVC Everio GZ-HM1 to retail for approximately $1,200 a pop.

[CES 2010] whether you read Ubergizmo regularly, you saw that one coming: the Samsung NX10 is now officially out and the specifications are official: 14.6 Megapixel, APS-C sensor, 720p video recording (mpeg4) at 30 frames per second. Samsung’s design doesn’t rely on a mirror (many DSLRs do) and that has been a key feature to reduce the overall size of the camera (doesn’t fit in the pocket…). That said, to aim and shoot, there’s no optical viewfinder. Instead, one will have to use the 3″ AMOLED display in the back or the eye-level electronic viewfinder. Besides being new, there’s no real groundbreaking features. The light sensitivity (ISO) maxes out at 3200. I hope that it is cheap considering it’s not really exiting (yawn).

Rumors of an iPod touch that has a camera have surfaced again, and that moment it’s said that the device will be released in spring 2010, which is slightly strange, considering that it’s outside of Apple’s typical upgrade cycle. Apparently the camera will be the same 2-megapixel camera that the iPod nano has, and unfortunately will plus lack autofocus and low-light sensitivity. We’re fairly certain that nobody will be complaining whether Apple decides to add a camera to its iPod touch, unless they decide to increase the price significantly.
