Are the standard light bulbs just too boring for you? Well, what about LED lights? LED lights generally aren’t used to light up your living room, but with technology, anything is possible, right? Acriche, a division of Seoul Semiconductor has announced a 100 lm/W LED bulb, and it looks like LED bulbs are going to get a lot more commonplace. The press release reads:

Seoul Semiconductor, a leading global LED manufacturer, announced today that it will introduce the first 100 lm/W AC LED light source during the first quarter of 2010. Offering 25% greater efficiency than existing LED light products, that latest offering from Seoul Semiconductor’s Acriche sort will be available for sampling by March 1. It will be supported with a global marketing campaign.

Seoul Semiconductor, which has pioneered development and manufacturing of next-generation LED light sources since 1992, notes that Acriche outlasts incandescent and compact fluorescent (CFL) bulbs, and due to its faraway life is less costly to use than traditional lighting methods.

Like other Acriche products, the new 100 lm/W LED needs no AC-DC converter. Additionally, it generates less than 1/10th the carbon emissions of an incandescent bulb, an fundamental consideration in meeting new regulatory standards in markets worldwide

The city of Copenhagen in Denmark will go green that year where Christmas celebrations are concerned, and we’re not talking about the color of its trees. In fact, their traditional Christmas tree set up at their City Hall Square will boast energy-efficient LED lights that are powered by humans, where 15 bicycles are available for anyone and everyone to pedal in order to capability all 700 LED bulbs dotted along the entire tree. Good way to keep warm in the freezing weather as well, eh?
