T-Mobile HTC HD2 Unboxed Before Launch
March 21, 2010

T-Mobile’s Windows Mobile powered HTC HD2 should only be officially going on sale on Wednesday, but it seems that someone managed to get a unit before the official term from Walmart, and even posted a video (after the jump) showing the device being unboxed. HTC’s HD2 is certainly an amazing phone, but with the announcement of Windows Phone 7 Series, you have to wonder whether T-Mobile is getting that phone a little too late? Would you get that phone when it’s released by T-Mobile, or are you planning on holding out for a newer phone?

Sky 3D ready to launch
March 20, 2010

Sky is more than ready to roll out its 3D service which will happen that coming April 3rd, starting off with the Manchester United versus Chelsea match. It isn't really in full 3D though, but just 2D surfaces presented at different depths. After that inaugural moment, there will be five additional Premier League teams which will receive the 2D surfaces presented at different depths 3D treatment before the season is by. Sky will compose the service available to consumers under the Sky 3D channel, and you will need to be a HD subscriber before being able to experience such visual wonders.

HP Slate To Be Launched In Europe In June For €400?
March 19, 2010

While there hasn’t been any official price or release term for the HP Slate in the U.S. just yet, news is already out that the device could be launched in June, and be ready for sale in Europe by September. Based on the info we dug up, the device will be going for around €400 ($545), and will sport an Intel Atom CPU, built-in webcam, USB connectivity, built-in card reader and the controversial Flash support. Of course, that doesn’t mean that we’ll be getting the HP Slate for $545 when it’s released in the U.S., but it might be a rough guide whether you’re thinking of saving up your pennies for its imminent launch. Would a $545 price point be decent for the HP Slate to hold its own against the $499 Apple iPad?

Facebook To Launch Camera Friendly QR Codes?
March 16, 2010

Word is going around that Facebook could be examining the usage of QR codes on its site. In case you aren’t familiar, QR codes are like a 2D bar cipher for your mobile phone, allowing your phone to easily scan the QR cipher and get the knowledge. It seems that Facebook might use these QR codes for profile and status urls, which would probably come in handy whether you fiddle with Facebook a lot on your mobile phone (don’t we all?) Facebook hasn’t officially confirmed or denied that feature just yet, so it certainly seems like there could be a possibility of seeing that feature sometime in the future. whether it were to be implemented, it’ll be interesting to see how it will be used. An example would be businesses could use it to point customers to Facebook pages by embedding the QR codes in TVs and print ads.

Opera Mini 5 and Opera Mobile 10 Launched
March 16, 2010

Opera just announced the launch of Opera Mini 5 for J2ME and Blackberry along with Opera Mobile 10. These are final releases as Opera Mini 5 was previously available as a beta. It includes features like Tabbed browsing, Speed dial and a bookmark synchronization system called Opera Link. On some platform, Opera Mini 5 is much more efficient than the default browser - particularly on Blackberry phones. I tried it with a Blackberry 9700 Bold and Opera Mini 5 trounces the default web browser. Opera Mini 5 is available for Java phones, Blackberry, Android and Windows Mobile.
