Apple has reported earlier today that it has sold one million iPad in 28 days, comparing that with the 74 days that it took to sell a million iPhones. Earlier that month, Apple has delayed the worldly launch, citing supply constraints.

For certain, the device has been selling much better than skeptics had predicted and overall, it is a very interesting device (read our iPad review), but it additionally arrives in a much different world than the one in which the original iPhone was born: there are now tens of thousands of apps, and the eco-system is much bigger than it used to be next. Of course, selling that many iPad is very impressive, and looking at how lucrative the black market is (I saw a lot of iPads selling for about 2x the price in Hong Kong) I can predict that the universal launch is likely to be a success as well.

If you were to tell someone 10 years ago that Apple would usurp Motorola as the top US phone maker, that person would probably have placed you in a straightjacket. Fast forward a decade and that seemingly impossible scenario has come true, with Apple recently overtaking Motorola as the top US phone maker, moving 8.8 million iPhones in the first quarter of 2010 with Motorola back in second place, behind by some 300,000 devices sold. Some folks have managed to grab a screenshot of a notification pop up appearing in the iPhone OS 4.0. that could be an error or a hoax, but whether you think about it, it’s certainly possible to have a landscape home screen on the iPhone, after all, the iPad offers it while running the iPhone OS 3.2, and jailbroken iPhones can do it using SpringBoard Rotator. Another rumor is floating around today that claims Adobe is looking to sue Apple. The suit is rumored to be considering of changes to the iPhone SDK license.

Apple has been granted a patent on the visual design of the iPhone and iPod touch. That will give Apple the capability to fight companies making clone devices on a different front.

While many folks are undoubtedly looking forward to the release of the iPhone 4.0 OS, iPhone 2G and 3G users will probably be feeling a little left out, since Apple has said that multitasking will not be available on those 2 versions. Fortunately for owners of older iPhones, community help is abundant, and word is going around that some hackers have managed to enable multitasking on the older iPhone 2G and 3G models. whether the news going around is true, the multitasking ability can be turned on or off with a singled-out TRUE or FALSE switch within the cipher. You’ll probably need to jailbreak your iPhone whether that hack is to be implemented, but in order to get multitasking, you’re willing to risk it, right?

This week is certainly a good week for iPhone rumors. that is currently just speculation from UBS analyst Maynard Um, but apparently he claims that the new iPhones may have a touch sensitive back, which was something that public speculated on earlier. Other possible features of the upcoming iPhone are said to be a 5-megapixel camera, 64GB of storage, AMOLED display and longer battery life. It’ll be interesting to see whether Apple really does turn the back of the iPhone into a touch-sensitive surface, similar to the Magic Mouse. Aside from that, the analyst expects the new iPhones to ship in June from $199 to $299, as well as lowering the price of the older model to $99 in order to create a budget model. It seems that the iPhone rumor mill has been very busy that week. After the rumored CDMA Verizon iPhone, word is going around that the next iPhone will be manufactured by Taiwanese contract manufacturer, Hon Hai Precision Industry, which is the same company responsible for the previous iPhones. Aside from that rumor is that the next-generation iPhone will be announced on June 22nd, and it will be called the iPhone HD. Is that all? Apparently not, as John Gruber from Daring Fireball has mentioned that it could offer an A4-class SoC, 960 x 640 display, a front-facing camera, and the iPhone 4.0 firmware will enable third-party multitasking. Do you think that these will be accurate when the next-generation iPhone is announced?
