Encipher Limited has jumped aboard the tablet bandwagon with a new 7″ tablet design that is powered by what else but Google Android. While the company is based in Nigeria and the UK, we are at a loss as to where the Encipher tablet will be sold, and neither do we have an inklin on how much it will cost. Guess you will just have to draw a price point from the specifications such as a 7″ 800 x 480 resolution display, 802.11b/g Wi-Fi connectivity, 16GB of internal memory, 512MB RAM, an SD memory card slot, a VIA processor, Google Android 1.6, USB connectivity, HDMI output and the ability to connect to 3G mobile broadband networks via an external device. Hopefully when released, an updated Android OS will be made available to that unnamed tablet for it to keep up with the times.

The Apple iPad has certainly been a success in its own right, and has fast fallen under the net of clone manufacturers for good reason – after all, why not ride on the popularity of a device that has sold by a million in less than half a year since its release? The M003 Apad you see here is additionally known as the iRobot, albeit it runs off the Android operating system (version unknown). Bearing a 7″ TFT display at 800 x 480 resolution, the iRobot comes with Google Maps support, HD video compatibility, a built-in webcam, 2GB/4GB of internal memory and an SD memory card slot. It retails for $199.99, and thanks to integrated Wi-Fi connectivity, you won’t need to look out for a mobile carrier to subscribe to for a mobile documents plan.

RAmos’ latest T18 portable media player is pretty hard to tell from all of the other models, since they sport a pretty generic design. Still, the difference lies under the hood, where the T18 will come with a 7″ display while boasting 1080p video support as well as HDMI output, just in case you think that the 7″ display won’t do your downloaded full HD files any justice. Other features include H.264 codec support, compatibility with MTK, DAT, MPG, VOB, AVI, TS, M2TS, MP4, MOV, RM and RMVB video file formats as well as MP3, WMA, WAV, AAC, OGG, APE, FLAC and M4A audio formats. Expect RAmos to throw the T18 into the market from the middle of that month onwards in China for 688 Yuan, where it will feature 8GB of internal memory.

SmartQ’s R7 E-Magine ereader ought to tickle your fancy whether you want something feature packed without breaking the bank, although do be prepared to live with a less-than-decent operating system. The R7 is a multimedia intensive device, featuring a 7″ SVGA resolution touchscreen LCD display alongside Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity, IPTV support, compatibility with the most popular audio and video file formats, a built-in Web browser and 2GB of internal memory which can be further augmented via its SDHC memory card slot. Powered by an ARM11 processor, you get 256MB of RAM accompanying the device, where its 3300mAh li-ion battery ought to be able to last up to 8 hours for reading functions. Not one for folks who want something “branded”, so to speak, but it serves its purpose well decent as a generic portable media player.

Garmin has announced that they will be rolling out a trio of marine GPS handheld devices known as the Garmin GPSMAP 78, GPSMAP 78s and GPSMAP 78sc. that remodeled series are able to run for up to 20 hours on just a pair of AA batteries, and will feature the HotFix GPS receiver from SiRF to help you get around. Shared specifications include a 2.6? color TFT display, IPX 7 waterproof certification, 1.7GB of internal memory and a microSD memory card slot are plus standard. The GPSMAP 78 is going for $350 being the base model, while the $450 GPSMAP 78s comes with a barometric altimeter, tilt compensated 3-axis electronic compass and wireless unit-to-unit transfer. Last but not least is the $550 GPSMAP 78sc which has all that and pre-loaded maps. Meant for folks who spend plenty of instance in the waters though.

Eken decided not to take the well trodden path of an iPad clone by rolling out its latest Mobile Web Device (MID) that has yet to be named, where it is powered by a VIA 8505 processor, featuring a 7″ touchscreen display at 800 x 480 resolution, 128MB RAM, 2GB of internal memory that can be augmented with a microSD memory card, and Wi-Fi connectivity. Sounds decent, save for the 128MB RAM which really is far from the minimum due these days. Hopefully the internal operating system is basic and yet decent sufficient to see action in the hands of consumers. No concept on pricing or availability as at press moment.
