Check out that rather interesting DIY project known as the Rotating LED Globe, where it relies on a ATMega Microcontroller to operate as seen in the video above. Perfect for megalomaniacs who have every intention to enslave the free world, why not have a mini globe that they can see in 3D format which looks as though it was projected? The globe image was created via a program known as BmpToAscii, where virtually any other image can be converted into Ascii format. We would be stoked to see a Death Star version displayed for all budding Darth Vaders out there.

LG Mystique will be made available from US Cellular from today onwards, where you will be able to take full advantage of that square-shaped handset that comes with an external touchscreen display as well as a QWERTY keyboard, signalling its messaging intention when flipped open. Other hardware specifications include a 2-megapixel camera with video recording ability, video playback operate, music playback, dual speakers and Bluetooth connectivity. Internal memory can be further augmented thanks to a microSD memory card slot. Expect the LG Mystique to retail for $80 after a $50 mail-in rebate and a two-year contract. Just in case you were wondering why that looks so familiar, it is plus known as the Lotus Elite from Sprint.

Could that be a vague tip that Google’s Nexus One will be available of Verizon Wireless sometime soon? The picture above shows Verizon CelleBrite unit, which is used to transfer phonebook notes from one phone to another, listing a Google Nexus One. Of course, the fact that the Nexus One appears on the CelleBrite doesn’t necessarily mean that the Nexus One is destined for Verizon Wireless, as it’s worth noting that CelleBrite needs a host and a target to transfer details too, so it’s additionally possible that the Nexus One is listed there amongst a large list of phone that Verizon might have no intention of carrying. Still, we can always hope, right?

The LookTel smartphone object recognition package aims to help out those who are suffering from some structure visual recognition problems, since it will be able to send images captured by the phone’s camera to a computer, where said computer will scan through a database to invent a match and return the aftermath to the phone which will be spoken out to the user. It has taken years of intensive evaluating for LookTel to reach where it is today, available in beta mold that spring with the intention of offering folks who suffer from impaired vision to be a little bit more independent. that system will work on any Windows Mobile smartphone, turning the built-in camera into an object scanner automatically. We do wonder what happens when Windows Phone 7 Series comes into the picture?

If you want grandpa to look less frail when taking his daily walks, why not check out the Big Bang Sword Cane and get it for him? After all, that 33.5″ cane comes with a magnetic compass to guide him home, not to mention a stainless steel sword sheathed inside the cane itself that offers some degree of protection (and intimidation) against folks with a poor intention. We’re not too certain whether individual state laws do prohibit that $29.88 item as it could be considered to be a dangerous weapon.

Sony isn’t only comfortable with 3D TVs as well as 3D gaming, but they are now working on a 3D camera which is somewhat similar in nature to Fuji’s Real 3D W1 consumer camera. that fact alone does point towards the final device being a compact digital camera instead of a large and bulky DSLR, but like many good things in life, we’ll just have to keep a lookout of that rumor.

If you were planning on popping a lot of location-based ads into your upcoming killer iPhone app, you might want take a peek at the latest update from Apple for developers. A rather stern note on the site reads: “whether your app uses location-based knowledge primarily to enable mobile advertisers to deliver targeted ads based on a user’s location, your app will be returned to you by the App Store Review Team for modification before it can be posted to the App Store.” Is Apple doing that to prevent abuse from advertisers, so that users won’t end up with advertisements from stores all around them? There isn’t any real explanation as to why that isn’t allowed, but it’s certainly worth taking note whether you’re building an app with the intention of putting advertisements in. After all, you wouldn’t want to spend your precious moment building an app only to find out that it will be rejected by Apple, right?
