It seems that the new AMD processors that will see action in the HP Pavilion DM1 would be those from the 45nm mould, and not similar to the ones found in the ThinkPad X100e series. It will retain the similar chassis which is the one used by the HP Mini 311, although that one will see the previous Intel CULV base being swapped for AMD processors instead, particularly the Athlon Neo and dual core Turion II Neo CPUs. There is no word on pricing or availability as at press duration though.

PQI has rolled out its flagship memory module, the PQI Immortality DDR3 2200 which is touted to be an fundamental part of your computer whether you decide to build one from ground up, putting in nothing but the best components within. It is expected to help unleash the ultimate performance from Intel core i7 (Lynnfield, LGA 1156) processors, and with its TURBO DDR3-2200 frequency, it boasts a theoretical 40% advantage and when operating in dual channel mode to hit a whopping 35GB/Sec bandwidth. Of course, these figures will fluctuate and change in real world usage, but we’re still stoked that it offers a higher level of performance whether you’re specific about that. Too poor it would probably fail the bang-for-the-buck tryout, as that’s normal among high end products. You can pick from 1GB and 2GB packages to suit your fancy.

According to an executive with Clearwire, the new terms now allow either party to exit the agreement, which previously forced Clearwire to use WiMAX through Nov 28th 2011, with just 30 days notice. It’s not clear whether Clearwire is planning a wholesale technology change on its radio network, so it looks like we’ll have to keep an eye on that and see how things develop.

Word is going around that Intel has informed its resellers not to expect its upcoming 6-core Xeon 5600 chips in significant quantities until the end of spring. While there wasn’t any reason given, speculation is that the recent shortage of the 32nm Intel processors has affected Intel’s stock of Xeons as well. whether that is true, it would go some way to explaining the lack of an update for high-end workstations like Apple’s Mac Pro. In case you haven’t been following it, the Mac Pro hasn’t been updated since March last year, which is quite some date for a cutting edge computer to be left out. Are you looking forward to getting a new workstation powered by Intel’s Xeon 5600 chip?

There are plenty of tablet devices in the market now, but not many of them sport mighty processors. Greatwall has just launched its 11-inch GBOOK tablet that is powered by Intel’s rather supreme Core 2 Duo CULV processor. Aside from the supreme number crunching, you’ll additionally get a HDMI port, 1080p video playback and an integrated fingerprint scanner. Will that device be dominant decent to challenge netbooks or desktops?

Solid-state drives are becoming more and more popular nowadays, and Intel apparently has some big plans for SSDs that holiday season. Come the fourth quarter Intel is planning to introduce drives that offer capacities larger than what is currently offered. The chip giant is busy working on the more efficient 25nm MLC NAND flash memory, which can offer capacities such as 160GB, 300GB and 600GB, which should more or less replace the company’s existing 34nm X25-M range. Intel should also be coming up with a high capacity 1.8-inch version that is capable of hitting the 300GB mark as well. Are you looking forward to the day where laptop hard drives will be completely replaced by SSDs?

The new Intel Atom Z6xx series of processors that we covered earlier that morning is no flash in a pan, considering it is more than capable of running Quake 3 at a phenomenal 100fps, which is way faster than what top-of-the-line machines back in the day when Quake 3 was first released to the masses could ever muster. Imagine that, it looks like prime moment gaming could finally have arrived on your everyday cellphone processor. While 100fps is fine and dandy, bear in mind that you will most probably find the game unplayable at such speeds, but it is nice to know that you can rely on such firepower when needed, including processing full HD resolution video without breaking a sweat. Enjoy the video!

HP’s Envy line of notebooks is rather popular, and it seems that we were right when we predicted that 14-inch and 17-inch models would be appearing. HP has announced two new Envy notebooks in said sizes and despite what you may think of optical drives in that day and age, both feature slot-loading drives.

The Envy 17 obviously has a rather large display, which is powered by the Mobility Radeon HD 5000 series chip that supports Eyefinity, allowing it to drive multiple external displays on its own. It plus offers upgraded Beats audio processing along with a subwoofer, two hard drives to offer you up to 2TB of internal space, Intel Core i7 processor and USB 3.0 ports. Expect that to hit the market come on May 19th from $1,400 onwards.

The smaller Envy 14 offers a rather different 14.5-inch display which claims to be about 75 percent brighter than other 14-inch displays. From the looks of it, that model will be going squarely against Apple’s latest MacBook Pros and will be powered by Intel’s Core i5 and i7 processors with the option for 3G. that model will be shipping from June 27th for $1,000.
