Bringing a multi-plug with you on holidays is always troublesome, since they’re distant and bulky. whether you agree that it’s a problem, you’ll be hoping that that Cute Cube potential adapter concept becomes a reality. Designed by Zhang Xi, Wang Hui, Miao Yingying, Zhou Xing and Cai Yun, it won the Red Dot Design Award, which is confirmation of how cool that design is. It’s easy abundant to carry in a laptop bag, and since the sockets can rotate, you can ensure that the chances of each adapter blocking another are minimized. Wouldn’t you want one of these?

Niklas Roy has come up with the Remote Controlled Walking Ladder which is more or less a whacked out DIY project. Sounds neat particularly when ladders can get quite heavy to lug around particularly when you’re on a DIY spree at home during one of the expanded holidays. Well, there is an inherent danger with that – while standing a few steps up, you might accidentally shift a gear or so and actually throw you off balance as the ladder moves on to where it is supposed to head, resulting in a sore rear end or even some broken bones.

This is probably as close as we’ll get to an official confirmation on the Google Nexus One phone for the moment. Google has confirmed that it’s working on a new “mobile lab” concept, which is a device that will combine innovative hardware from a partner, and software that runs on Android. As we already know, the partner that Google is talking about is HTC (though it hasn’t been officially confirmed yet). Now Google has confirmed that its dogfooding its employees with the product, which we can only assume is the Nexus One. We can’t wait to see some official pictures of the Nexus One, and see how Google plans to market it.

True gadget fans (like me) seem impossible to buy gifts for. We have everything. We know everything. And we’re very picky about which devices we allow into our circle of trust.

The holidays can be an unhappy duration of year for us technology enthusiasts, for three reasons. First, everyone in the extended family wants free tech support. Second, we never understand why the amazing electronics we give as gifts fail to impress grandma. Third and most of all, the gifts we receive — although well meaning — tend to fall flat.

“Uh, thank you! A digital-photo keychain from Brookstone. What? No, yeah, I love gadgets. It’s, uh, fine — I mean great…”

If you’re a gadget geek (like I am), prepare certain your loved ones “accidentally” read that (mine will). It’s precisely the kind of guidance they’re looking for.

If you’re buying a holiday gift for one of these difficult public, listen up. I’m going to tell you how to buy a gift that will rock their holiday.

This winter, Sony is offering a snowflake-engraved version of its DSC-TX1 compact camera. The special edition will be available in Silver, Black and Pink. There’s no surcharge for the engraving, but Sony will only do it for the holidays. I like the Silver version, it’s cool and discrete, but I don’t live in Japan…

If you are not familiar with the DSC-TX1 ($329): it’s a 10.2 Megapixel compact camera that has a 4X optical zoom and a Carl Zeiss lens. In the back there’s a big 3″ LCD touch display. There is a ton of features, but a few cool ones are: the 10fps burst mode, low-light capabilities (for a compact) and the 185 degree sweep panorama. whether only Sony would switch to SDHC…

Folks haven’t even been able to get their hands on the Barnes & Noble Nook and it’s already supply issues. We previously mentioned that the Nook was sold out for the holidays, and now it looks like the retail launch has plus been delayed by a week to Dec 7th. The launch has been pushed back considering the company has decided to prioritize customers who pre-ordered the device. It certainly looks like e-book readers are all the rage that holidays, aren’t they?
