Hauppauge has rolled out its MediaMVP-HD Digital Media Player that will jump straight into the world of full High Definition, offering support for 1080p video via HDMI. Apart from that, you will plus find that it is equipped with a UPnP client capable of streaming shared photo, music, and video files from networked computers as well as other storage devices by an Ethernet connection. The USB port additionally lets you hook up a USB flash drive or external storage drive for additional playback from other sources. Other connectivity options include component, composite, and S-Video, where the Hauppauge MediaMVP-HD is tipped to hit the US market that summer for $149.99. Expect the hacker community to have a field day with that since it runs on Linux.

ViewSonic has introduced its PJD6531w 3D ready projector that surprisingly suitable, does not cost more than $1,000 – a price point that is unprecedented when compared to other 3D projectors that are in the market. Featuring an HDMI port for you to hook it up to other High Definition-ready devices, the ViewSonic PJD6531w plus offers 3,000 lumens of brightness and a 120Hz refresh rate. Unfortunately, the ViewSonic PJD6531w cannot offer full HD resolution since it maxes out at WXGA only, making 720p HD movies being the only option for the moment being. Apart from that, future firmware updates will be able to kick start its 3D capability, which is tipped to happen before the year is by with 3D Blu-ray discs and Sky’s 3D channel ready to rock the market.

Aerial photography doesn’t have to be an expensive affair, as proven by Eric Austin. What that Texas-based videographer did was hook up his Canon 7D DSLR camera to a custom-built radio controlled helicopter via a tripod screw mount. The aftermath is a cheap way to get some aerial photography, and it can even record videos in full high-definition 1080p and relay back live previews of the footage via a 5.8GHz radio downlink. Not too shabby eh? The creator is even planning to include a GPS equipped auto-pilot feature in the future. Video after the break.

It seems that every major manufacturer out there is scrambling to get 3D displays out the door and now Toshiba Mobile Display has announced that it has been busy working to bring glasses-free 3D technology to large display panels. The multi-parallax technique used by Toshiba promises to reduce eye fatigue while providing a 30 degree horizontal viewing angle. The display offers a 1280 x 800 resolution at 480 nits of brightness which isn’t too poor, considering that the 9-parallax implementation used by Toshiba due 9 separate images to be generated, requiring an ultra high definition LCD module.

Sharp’s DX Series of LED AQUOS LCD TVs in Japan has just gotten a little bit bigger – thanks to the introduction of another eight models, where some of them will feature integrated Blu-ray Disc recorders to help you get started in the world of full High Definition right out of the box. Apart from that, you will find next-generation LCD panels which allows precise control of light output, resulting in superb image quality with a cinema contrast of 5,000,000:1. A without Blu-ray Disc is able to hold up to 36 hours of full HD video programming – more excuse to miss out on your favorite show, eh?

Cables To Go has rolled out its TruLink 60 Ghz WirelessHD kit that paves the way for wireless transmission of a high definition 1080p signal among TVs and HDMI components, where the latter can range from Blu-ray players to compatible gaming consoles. It might not look like much, but at least it will do its bit in reducing the number of HDMI cables in your living room assuming you’ve gone full High Definition in all your dealings back home. It has a maximum transmission range of 33 feet, but will require line of sight. The kit is up for pre-order on Cables to Go’s website for $499.99.

Nokia, Samsung, Silicon Image, Sony and Toshiba have banded together to create the Mobile High-Definition Link Consortium (MHL). The goal of the consortium is to create a new mobile audio/video interface for connecting mobile devices to HDTVs, providing 1080p video and digital audio by a small cable which is even capable of powering the device. While there are already Mini HDMI connectors, the HDMI standard uses 19 pins without offering capability to the mobile device, and the new design will focus on reducing the pin count without having to sacrifice urgent features such as video resolution. Do you think that HDMI is already good sufficient, or do you agree that it needs to move forward?

AOC Europe is planning to introduce a 27-inch LCD sometime next month it seems, and considering the popularity of high definition, it’s no surprise to see that that monitor, the AOC V27m, will support a maximum resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. The display itself is only 28mm thick, and offers a 5ms response moment, dynamic contrast ratio of 60,000:1 and has built-in 2W speakers. Pricing knowledge isn’t available just yet, but you can bet that there will be a price tag attached to it when it’s officially announced in the middle of May.

Looks like the upcoming Google set top box might not be the only way to get a Google influence into your TV, as the People of Lava (yes, that’s the company name) are planning to come up with an Android-powered TV, with the first model being a 42-inch high definition LED screen that should cost around $2,700-$3,400, and should be followed by the 47-inch and 55-inch models. An Android-powered TV would certainly be cool, as you’d probably be able to stream video like YouTube, Netflix and Hulu directly to the TV. Would you want an Android-powered TV, or are you composition to get your media from an external device?
