Nokia X2 in the works

While Nokia has introduced the X3 and X6 handsets recently, they are working on the X2, preparing it to hit the market in the nearby future. It seems that that handset will reach in the South East Asian market, where it will sport quad-band GSM support and Bluetooth connectivity. that ought to be a low-end handset, and that would squarely place it in the crosshairs of folks living in numerous emerging economies all through the region. Cheap as it might be, it will probably be a success as well.

Bing market share increases

Bing market share increases

Interesting - US search market figures for last month by Nielsen points towards the ascension of Microsoft's Bing with Google's market share figures dropping. With Bing being the default search engine for Net Explorer and Motorola's range of Android-powered handsets, Microsoft must be doing something right to keep 'em coming back for more. Proportionately speaking, Bing experienced a 14.7% increase compared to Google - which is a totally different story from its traditional path which came at the expense of Yahoo instead. Where do you think will be Bing's saturation point?

INQ Chat 3G and INQ Mini 3G arrives in India

Those who are living in India might be pleased to know that both the INQ Chat 3G and INQ Mini 3G will be arriving in that part of the world from that week onwards, courtesy of Aircel. These handsets are meant for social networking butterflies, where one will be able to enjoy Facebook, Twitter and Skype integration. No view on pricing for either handset though, but hopefully they won't be crazy expensive considering the purchasing ability of the average person living in India is much lower than that of a UK resident. Microsoft Windows Phone 7 series theme

Microsoft Windows Phone 7 series theme

While Microsoft has made it known that that most Windows Mobile 6.5 handsets won't be able to construct the upgrade jump to the Windows Phone 7 Series, there is still a small trick left - relying on the beta version of a Windows Phone 7 theme for Windows Mobile. Getting your game on is pretty simple by downloading and installing a .cab file, where among the features made available will include Live tiles with rotating pictures, a Bing search utility with a background that will change to match the Bing picture of the day, as well as a program launcher which resembles the Windows Phone 7 Series/Zune HD app launcher. Don't expect that to be refined since it is still in beta mode.

LG shows off new phones in the Netherlands

LG decided to take a Dutch holiday and showcase a bunch of new handsets at the Netherlands, where they are the LG Cookie Music KM570 (as pictured), LG Pure, LG GT405, LG KS365 and LG Jacquar 5. The LG Cookie Music does resemble the Rogers-bound LG KM555 a whole lot, although it has more advanced features such as a 5-megapixel camera, 4GB of internal memory, Dolby Mobile technology, HSDPA connectivity and a 3.5mm headset jack. As for the touchscreen-capable LG GT405, that model sports HSDPA connectivity, 3D S-Class UI, stereo FM radio and a 5-megapixel camera. The slider LG Pure is pretty much the same as the LG GT405, although it misses out on the touchscreen display and comes in a different mold factor. As for the LG KS365, that model seems to be a redesigned version of the LG KS360. The LG Jacquar 5 might sound phonetically luxurious, but that simple candybar is equipped with a VGA camera and other basic media features. Which of these do you like best?

China Unicom to get WiFi iPhone, No iPad/iPhone tethering, iPhone video signal rate surfaces

March 8, 2010

According to reports, China Unicom is set to sell the iPhone with WiFi. The current handsets it sells lack WiFi while gray market alternatives have it.

Steve Jobs has made it clear that those who buy the iPad in April won't be able to tether the device to the iPhone for 3G connectivity. That is hardly a surprise considering the iPhone still can’t tether to laptops in the US.

O2 has listed video calling fees for the iPhone according to remotes. Video calls in the UK are 20p per minute and have added to rumors that the next iPhone will support video calling.
