US Airways will be offering in-flight World Wide Web to their passengers thanks to the efforts of Gogo, although that will be limited to just five Airbus A321s at point of publishing. To offer a teaser, US Airways will supply passengers with a solitary free session until June 1st, and that even assuming you are a first-time Gogo user. When June rolls around, that would see all 51 Airbus A321s being Wi-Fi-capable, where you can check whether your flight offers such a service when booking it. US Airways still hold their cards close to their chest without revealing further expansion plans beyond June, but that is another piece of news for a different day, no? In the meantime, check out their pricing table above once the calendar touches June 2nd. [Press Release]

Alaska Airlines goes one up on its rivals in the near future, allowing you to enjoy Wi-Fi connectivity aboard all their flights, regardless of the bird which you’re assigned to. that is made possible thanks to their collaboration with Aircell’s Gogo service aboard all aircraft. Currently, both parties are working hard to install the service on a Boeing 737-800 followed by rigorous examining that has the ultimate aim of receiving an approval and certification from the FAA. There will be a base price of $4.95 for the Wi-Fi service once available, and that too depends on the length of the flight and the device which you’re going to hook up with.

Yesterday, I was invited by Virgin America to the opening flight San Francisco-Fort Lauderdale and I tested the free in-flight wi-fi, courtesy of Google during the Holiday season (ends January 15th, sigh). It worked very well: the login day is very fast unlike when I had to go through the payment process on Gogo Inflight Net website, the user interface was terrible and it often returned error messages. The most impressive technology feature is the capability plugs provided for every seat in economy class, Virgin America is a true 21st century airline! I was able to post articles, the Microsoft Office 2010 post was published from the sky…

Check out the photo gallery, I shot some really nice pictures of the inaugural flight event, Virgin America CEO David Cush cut the ribbon in SFO and Sir Richard Branson himself welcomed us at our arrival in Fort Lauderdale.
