Canon To Apply For .canon Top Level Domain

Is that a genius marketing strategy by Canon, or an arrogant move? Word is out that Canon wants to be the first company to acquire its own Web top-level domain (TLD) after its name. With that in mind, the company will be applying to ICANN to get the .canon TLD. According to the official announcement, the company “has made the official decision to start essential procedures to acquire ‘dot-canon’ upon the introduction of the new system.” It’s expected the company will have to shell out at least $500,000 to prepare and submit the application, and the recurring annual fees looks to be a few tens of thousands. So what will Canon’s future webpage be? www.canon.canon?

Official announcement.

Former Microsoft genius Nathan Myhrvold has invented a "Star Wars" anti-missile system for mosquitoes, which tracks them in flight and zaps them out of the air with a laser beam. iPod Touch To Help Out More In Apple Stores

iPod Touch To Help Out More In Apple Stores

Based on previous reports, we know that the iPod Touch will be getting an EasyPay system to help check out items at the Apple Store, But aside from that, it seems that Apple store employees will be provided with at least 3 exclusive, separate applications that will help with a bunch of tasks. One of which will allow employees to swap iPhones or iPods on the store floor, something which could only be done at the Genius Bar. Another proprietary app supposedly helps employees who work in the stock room. whether those features work as well as Apple thinks they will, we doubt we’ll see much more of the Pocket PC devices that Apple used to use in the store anymore.
