Velocity Micro has revealed that they will be offering the Cruz Tablet and Cruz Reader in due instance, where it will come in 4:3 and 16:9 configurations. Meant to go up against e-readers and tablets, the Cruz devices will feature a 7″ capacitive multitouch display, an 800MHz processor and Android 2.1 alongside Flash 10.1 to get you started off the right footing straight out of the box. The best news of all? It will not cost more than $300 a pop, so you will have to wait until later that summer to catch a glimpse of it at a retail store near you.

With the iPad more than ready to manufacture a splash that coming Saturday, Apple is preparing itself to reply a slew of questions from its potential customers, where their retail stores will offer a free Personal Setup service to iPad customers. All customers who purchase an iPad at a retail store (which are said to be limited to just 15 at Best Buy, and even that will be spread evenly among the models on offer) will plus be bestowed with additional day with an employee in order to help the less technically inclined among them to set up mail accounts, install their favorite apps from the store and more. Not only that, all US Apple Stores will host special iPad workshops that Saturday dawn. that looks set to be a great PR move on Apple’s part as it would go a lengthy way in securing lengthy term customers with the right footing, but next again we believe most iPad users would already be avid Apple fans.

The Olympus PEN E-PL1 is not the figment of anyone’s imagination – it is as real as you and I, where it aims to offer DSLR-like performance in a rather slim and sleek package. that 12-megapixel shooter is a budget Micro Four Thirds device that boasts High Definition video recording and interchangeable lens to get even the awkward beginner off on the right footing. Forking out $599 for that will come with the 14-42mm f3.5/5.6 zoom lens that additionally graced the E-P1 kit. You can’t just rush out and pick one up from a store, since the Olympus PEN E-PL1 will reach sometime next month.

StarTech has rolled out its USB 3.0 ExpressCard which comes with a couple of ports to get you started off on the right footing where USB 3.0 is concerned. There are a couple of things to watch out for though – you won’t have sufficient energy to supply a full 900mA for each port, requiring you to tote around an optional AC adapter whether you tend to travel a whole lot. Another drawback would be its design that makes it more than vulnerable of breaking off when dropped or landed on the side of the ExpressCard. Would you fork out $50 for that?
