Another day, another ebook reader – that date round with Paradigm Shift offering their EER-051D model. Why must they come up with such a convoluted model name is anyone’s guess, but we would definitely prefer something that is a whole lot easier to roll off the tongue. That aside, the EER-051D ships with a 5″ color display, an integrated FM tuner, MP3 and photo playback, 2GB of internal memory, an SD memory card slot as well as the ability to handle most popular e-book formats without excluding DRM-enabled ePub books to boot. Expect that to be rebadged in other iterations and hit the US sometime next week.

Sony’s latest range of Walkman MP3 players come under the guise of the B-Series, where you can choose from the 2GB (NWZ-B152) and 4GB (NWZ-B153) models, and they come in black, blue, pink and red colors. Released in early June onwards, both models sport a 3-line LCD display that shows off track and artist knowledge, a bass boost button for instant “oomph” to your music, as well as an equalizer to help you fine tune your favorite songs. Since it comes with an integrated USB connection, there is no need to carry around another cable, and transferring files from your computer is as easy as drag and drop. An integrated FM tuner lets you relax to regular radio programming when you’ve run out of stuff to listen to.

Nobody likes to take in the alarm clock ring in the dawn, and whether you’d rather be woken up in a more natural way, you’d want to check out the updated version of the Verilux Rise & Shine Natural Sleep System. The previous version looked a lot like an ugly table lamp, but that model looks squarer. When you’re nodding off to sleep, you can set it to play some soothing sounds, and slowly dim the light as you go off to sleep. It sports an FM tuner, auxiliary port for your MP3 player, as well as decent memory to store about 800MP3s. You can additionally do the reverse, which increases the sound gradually, while additionally increasing the brightness, obviously an effort to help you wake up. whether you think the built-in lamp isn’t bright adequate, the option to add in an auxiliary lamp will certainly come in handy.

Sony Europe intends to brighten up your homes that spring with a range of new smart clock radios with an iPod/iPhone charging/playback dock. The ICF-DS11iP and ICF-C05iP do seem to shape up to be pretty decent devices, with the latter being a lightweight device which comes in a simple design, where you get a built-in alarm clock, an FM tuner with 20 presets, brightness control as well as a sleep timer. As for the more complicated ICF-DS11iP, that dock gets an enhanced green LCD display for better aesthetics, featuring dual alarm functions, alarm ringing sound from your iPod or iPhone, AM/FM radio or buzzer. It is loud ample for music playback in a small room thanks to its larger speaker cone and 3.5W + 3.5W capability alongside MEGA BASS capability.

Having a faraway soak in the bathtub might be relaxing, but there’s nothing like music to produce a good situation better, right? That’s probably what the folks at notion Label were thinking when they designed the Music Planet, a portable ball-shaped MP3 player that can drift in your bath tub. Aside from its stereo speakers, the device certainly seems very useful, particularly whether you plan to sing while you take a distant bath. It’s currently only available in Japan, but you could probably import it, though at $120, it’s not precisely the cheapest device in town, but it certainly seems fun and useful. Specifications of the device include:

FM tuner

Alarm clock

SD/SDHC card support

USB support

Powered by 6 AA batteries.

Marinemart has just unveiled its Freestyle Audio Waterproof MP3 player which will target those who lead an active lifestyle, particularly for folks who love to go swimming (and involved in other watersports), since the Freestyle Audio is capable of remaining submerged in up to 10 feet of water before it starts to go haywire. Too poor in that day and age, all the manufacturer could offer was a paltry 2GB of internal memory, but at least you get a pair of waterproof earbuds to go along with it. Other features include shockproof protection, EQ presets, an integrated FM tuner and MP3/WMA/WMA DRM files support. Expect to fork out $89.99 for the Freestyle Audio Waterproof MP3 player before you go snorkeling the next day round.

[CES 2010] We confess that the JVC RV-NB50, plus known as the Kaboom, resembles something that won’t be out of place from the Transformers series, leaning more towards the Decepticon line than the Autobots. First released a dozen years ago and making an impact with its high capability and legendary durability, the Kaboom is now back better than before, keeping up with the times by including an integrated iPod dock and USB connectivity without sacrificing on performance. Pumping out 40 watts of potential while retaining the general design of its predecessor, the Kaboom features a woofer at each end alongside bass enhancement circuitry that ought to turn your small apartment into a rocking party. Just to assemble certain it handles retro (by today’s standards) music, you get a CD player as well alongside an integrated FM tuner and a front audio input. A shoulder strap makes it a snap to tote around, while a remote control allows you to control it from your La-Z-Boy without moving more than a couple of muscles. Expect the JVC RV-NB50 Kaboom to hit the market for $299.95 that January.
