Witspad W8 Mobile Net Device

The Witspad W8 Mobile Web Device (MID) does look like a smartphone at first glance, something which hails from the HTC family of devices, but we guess we are wrong considering it lacks SMS support, which disqualifies it from being a full handset replacement. Hardware specifications include the Maemo OS, a 806MHz Marvell PXA 320 processor, a 4.3" touchscreen display, 128MB RAM, 256MB ROM, a 3.2-megapixel camera, a 3.5mm headphone jack, GPS support, Wi-Fi connectivity and CDMA2000 3G connectivity. It is currently going for around $470 after conversion in China.

Maze of date mouse

Maze of day mouse

Andy Kurovets’ latest design outing would be the Maze Of moment, where it relies on colors to tell the current date. For example, the chaotic yellow line represents the number "1", while blue is "2", with "3" being red and 4" being green, and so on and so forth. Perhaps TokyoFlash folks are kicking themselves in the rear end for not thinking of such a design first. Ah well, we want something convenient and easy to understand at first glance, so using that will definitely require a fairly steep learning curve.

Buffalo USB Nintendo PC Game Pad

Buffalo USB Nintendo PC Game Pad

At first glance, that looks like an old school NES game pad, but upon closer inspection, you won't find any Nintendo logo on that, but the word Buffalo emblazoned on the top right hand corner of the device instead. While the world has already moved on to USB 3.0, the Buffalo USB Nintendo PC Game Pad still remains in the past with a USB 1.1 connection, but that shouldn't matter since all you're going to do is mash buttons like there is no tomorrow. Perfect for shoot 'em ups, it boasts a classic Turbo button for well rested thumbs as you cut a path of destruction with your aeroplane. Would you fork out $22 for a piece of retro memory?

Asus EeeMedia EM0501

March 2, 2010

Asus EeeMedia EM0501

Is there no end to the Eee sort? Guess not, with Asus coming up with their EeeMedia EM0501 machine which does resemble the Eee Box closely at first glance. What makes the EeeMedia EM0501 different is a more technical-based S5PV210 800MHz Samsung ARM processor, 512MB RAM, Ethernet connectivity, a 2.5" drive bay and a remote control, lost out of Wi-Fi connectivity which is a rather strange decision considering that is meant to take a stab at the Apple TV and Western Digital TV. Expect that puppy to handle 1080p HD video and support various formats including MPEG1/4, H.264, WMV, VC-1, DivX, Xvid, VOB and MKV.

Aurora watch has no dials

Aurora watch has no dials

At first glance, someone might think that the Aurora watch is dead, having run out of batteries and requiring a replacement. Not so fast, buddy - that rare timepiece is lost out on its dial considering the designer has decided to form that analog piece stand out by telling the date via laser light beams for the hands, where the red beam indicates the minutes while the blue depicts the hour. These will seem only when the bevel edge around the watch ring is tapped, but otherwise it sits pretty around your wrist.

Radio case mod looks interesting

Radio case mod looks interesting

Gary of Bit-tech forums has come up with the case mod you see up here, where it receives most of its inspiration from the early era of electronics during the first couple of decades in the past century. Interestingly sufficient, Gary managed a feat that many would not have noticed at first glance - he put in a whole water cooling system within, and has come up with a pretty detailed dossier on the steps taken to achieve such lovely retro perfection. Let us hope that the wood is treated so that termites won't go ahead and invent a literal meal out of it by the course of a few years.
