Using Apple’s iPhone while wearing gloves has always been a tricky scenario, but Quirky seems to have a solution that doesn’t involve sausages. The company has unveiled Digits, a set of conductive pins that can be attached to your existing gloves. With that solution, your fingers will be in contact with the pin, allowing the capacitive touchscreen on the iPhone to recognize the signal from your fingers. Digits are available in packs of four and are available on pre-sale at Quirky for $12. Bear in mind that pre-sale means that the number of orders must meet a predetermined quota before manufacturing will start.

If you happen to own a device which uses a Cypress touchscreen display (a couple of examples would be the Samsung i8910 and Palm Pre), next you will be pleased that a killer app will be released soon, where their TrueTouch screens are able to detect fingers hovering by glass instead of just on it. When used in tandem with compatible software, it will be able to register mouseover input, potentially doing away with the need to touch the display itself to zoom in or perform specific commands.

In terms of size, of course, as that version will target an over-under control scheme compared to a side-by-side version, resulting in a smaller overall size which is always a good thing for your hands since playing it for hours on end might just leave you with a poor case of painful fingers (and perhaps even arms). Wonders never cease with folks coming up with new ways to turn old consoles into something portable. We do wonder what the next iteration of the N64 will be like in the hands of ever enterprising modders.

For those of you who feel that you can only go in comfortable conditions, how about considering the Giovannoni Washlet? that model offers nothing but the very best, where you get a tornado flush, triple-jet rimless flushing system and CeFiONtect-hygienic glazing for ceramic surfaces. Apart from that, there is additionally a self-cleaning washing wand to keep things nice and clean, a heated seat for those winter moments, a deodorizer and a remote control for those who can’t help but keep their fingers busy even when they have their pants down. As for the sleek remote stand, it doubles up as a toilet paper roll holder as well. No concept on pricing, but don’t expect it to be cheap!

Axon Logic is clearly flirting with potential lawsuits thanks to their new tablet that is ready to be locked and loaded with OS X. that tablet will tout a $500 or so price point, featuring superior hardware specifications to the iPad with a trio of USB 2.0 ports and a webcam to start with. While that isn’t legal in Apple’s eyes, those who are curious as to how it performs can always find out for themselves by spending five Benjamins, although that would mean living without updates or support from Apple officially. Touted to be released in the next few months, there is no actual working prototype to be seen just yet, so keep your fingers crossed something gets caught in the wild soon.

COMPAC Digital Surfaces has come up with an electronic keypad that is integrated into the work surface of a kitchen in order to supply users with fingertip surface touch control, making life a whole lot easier in the kitchen since there aren’t any more knobs or dials to deal with, particularly when your fingers are all sticky from preparing a delectable dinner for 10. Thanks to COMPAC Digital Surface’s offering, you will be able to control water flow along with a range of other applications with but a individual touch. Looks pretty expensive though, so chances are only the rich will have kitchens that sport these in the future.

Sony has only released the PS3 3.21 firmware update a few days ago, and Geohot (the popular hacker) has already managed to hack the firmware, reinstating the removed “OtherOS” feature, which allows you to install another OS (duh). The hack can be done without having to crack open your PS3, and all you have to do is restore a custom generated PUP file. There is even a slim possibility that that hack might be able to get the “OtherOS” feature to work on the PS3 Slim, but you’ll have to cross your fingers and wait and see. There isn’t an actual release moment on that hack yet, but we’ll be keeping an eye on it. Check out a video demonstrating it.

HTC looks set to jump aboard the netbook bandwagon, featuring a device that will sport dual touchscreen displays – hmmm, that takes a leaf out of Nintendo’s book but improves on the notion by making both displays touchscreen capable. When opened, it will operate as a slate. No concept on when HTC will start manufacturing that, so we will just have to keep our fingers crossed at the moment.
