Think that your iPod is one rugged mother which can last the distance? Yinlips has something better with their YDP102 MP3 player which is touted to offer a phenomenal 100 hours of continuous audio playback, but you can be certain that it will never be able to hold a candle to Apple’s iPod devices when it comes to user-friendliness. whether that is not urgent to you, next the YDP102 might be just your cup of tea with its 2GB of internal memory alongside MP3, WMA, APE, FLAC, AAC, OGG and WAV audio file format support. At $20 a pop, that surely places it under the impulse purchase category. Hard to believe that Yinlips claims the 100-hour battery life is achievable on a mere 5-minute charge!

The iPad could be a dream gadget for many, but artists will definitely look elsewhere since Apple’s offering does not support outright sketching at the moment (that could very well change in the future, who knows?). Here’s a concept that might capture your imagination instead – the aptly named Notebook Sketchbook, although it would be pretty sad whether all it did was to double up as a portable digital sketchbook and nothing else. No concept on the type of file format supported on that, but hey – it is a concept, so go wild with your suggestions!

There is a new music file format in town, and it comes from none other than several key figures behind the development of the super famous MP3. Dubbed MusicDNA, that new file format will be able to hold metadata such as lyrics, videos, artwork and even blog posts. To compose matters all the more interesting, all of it can be continually updated alongside the music to assemble it one dynamic file format. that will be one very searchable file which has the ability to tote up to 32GB of additional data in the file itself. Guess downloading such a file might be a royal pain in the rear end, particularly for folks who live in areas where bandwidth is at a premium. Talk about maxing out your iPhone’s storage space with just one file!

The Aldi is another iPod nano clone for the masses, where it will lack the go Wheel found on the regular iPod nano, although it is equipped with an integrated FM tuner. When it comes to video playback, don’t expect the Aldi to bring the house down with just AMV file format support, but soon after again how much do you expect from a $43 device from China? Battery life stands at 3 hours for both music and video playback, but interestingly abundant it comes with a 3-year warranty. It does lead us to question though – companies like these that churn out such clones, will they be around after a couple of years to honor the warranty agreement?

Did the moon just turn blue? Guess so, particularly when you can pick up the Meizu M8 for a mere €199. What was once touted to be the iPhone killer (but folded miserably in case you haven’t noticed) is going for $295 unlocked (after conversion from Euros), making it $100 cheaper. Just in case you’ve forgotten what the M8 can do, it boasts a wide range of video file format support, which is its greatest strength apart from letting you keep in touch with friends and family.
