While Clearwire wasn’t very generous with technical details, it has confirmed, via its first quarter earnings report that it is planning to churn out two WiMAX phones made by Samsung and HTC. Both phones are expected to be available by the end of 2010, so we more or less only have another half a year to go at most. Without offering any model numbers, the Samsung was described as an Android-powered 3G/4G/Wi-Fi device that would be optimized for heavy video and video communication use, while the HTC would be a 3G/4G/Wi-Fi enabled phone. The lack of an OS mentioned along with the HTC device has led to speculation that it might be powered by the upcoming Windows Phone 7, which would be an interesting device, as we are looking forward to seeing devices powered by Windows Phone 7.

MSI has revealed that it has a new CX705MX notebook that will come with a 512MB Radeon HD 545V graphics chipset, offering more than adequate juice for folks who are on a tight budget to handle HD videos on its 17.3″ 1,600 x 900 resolution display. To invent certain that great visuals go along with a decent level of audio, there are a couple of 2W speakers accompanied by a subwoofer to keep things going. No concept on the kind of Intel Core 2 Duo processor used underneath the chassis, but we do know that the CX705MX will run on Windows 7 Home Premium with a 250GB or optional 320GB or 500GB hard drive. Other specifications include a 4-in-1 memory card reader, HDMI output, VGA output, three USB ports and an Ethernet port, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity, and a 1.3-megapixel webcam. No concept on pricing or availability though.

How often do you see someone try and redesign the classic Polaroid camera? that concept design by Evan Jardee looks really sleek and contemporary, something that you can be certain that most folks would want to buy whether it were ever to be turned into a real product. The concept camera now sports a folding design with an aluminum body, 10GB of built-in memory, Wi-Fi and even inductive (wireless) charging. The folding design allows the camera to stand up on its own without the need for a tripod, and you can even use its swivel operate to take pictures at an angle. Now whether only Polaroid would come up with a real product that looks like that.

While there isn’t any official word on such a device just yet, word is going around that RIM is busy working on a tablet device, codenamed the BlackPad or Cobalt. According to the rumor, the device will sport an 8.9-inch display and could be thinner and smaller than Apple’s iPad. whether such a device were to become a reality, it’s expected to be unveiled sometime in 2011, sporting a 3G connection, Wi-Fi, and possibly sync with a BlackBerry smartphone. Just how a BlackBerry tablet will work in tandem with a BlackBerry phone will be an interesting view. The question is: would you want to buy a BlackBerry tablet by an iPad?

Note: The picture above is obviously just a concept.

If you were wondering how Apple’s iPad did in its launch last weekend, an estimate by a Piper Jaffray analyst puts the figure at 300,000 iPad 3G units sold that last weekend. that would include both 52 days of pre-orders and walk-in sales. Of the 50 Apple stores that were called on Sunday, it seems that all but one had completely run out of stock for the iPad 3G. whether the figures are accurate, thereupon Apple’s iPad (3G and Wi-Fi combined) would become the quickest-selling tablet and eBook reader to period. Amazon is estimated to have sold about 3 million Kindles to moment, but it took about 2-years to hit such a figure, while Apple may exceed that in just 6-months.

Good news for Palm’s WebOS fans as today Palm Pre Plus and Pixi Plus were announced to come out soon. Apart from the fact of the announcement, which would have inevitably happened sooner or later, we want to bring in some details on what makes the difference within Palm smartphone models, and those with Plus in the name. Firstly, AT&T and Verizon are now additionally in the business. So you can couple services they supply to that. soon after there is Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g added to Pixi’s feature list. that, I think, fills the most obvious feature gap within Pixi and other smartphones including Pre as well by the way. What’s about Pre Plus, it now has double the memory (16GB), a bit longer battery life and video capture. Pre Plus and Pixi Plus are priced $149 on AT&T, $179 on Verizon and $49 on both carriers respectively. To get one of these when they come out soon you will have to agree on a two-year plan and mail-in rebate.

LG launches its Mini (model number GD880) web orientated mobile phone that April in Europe followed by other regions of the world. LG states no price as it will vary according to every specific region. The most interesting thing yet about the GD880 Mini is its Phantom Browser with HTML5 support. Since web orientation is a key feature of LG Mini, they made it a full touchscreen with 3.2-inch display and no physical keyboard. As the official press release says, they tried to keep things as simple as possible, so they like to shout it a mobile phone with smartphone-like features. Design is therefore plus simple and is March’s whether product design award holder. The bottom line for LG Mini is: HTML5 web experience for all popular web services and web apps, Wi-Fi, HSDPA, A-GPS, fresh design plus 5 megapixel camera. Probably won’t cost too much.
