AT&T Zero Charger To Help Reduce Your Electric Bill
March 17, 2010

AT&T looks like it’s trying to do its bit for the environment, as it’s offering the AT&T Zero Charger, which aims to help you eliminate wasted electricity. It does so by sensing when a cell phone is not plugged into a charger, and will cut off the potential supply from the wall socket when there is no phone detected. By doing so, it will help cut out the vampire draw, which basically is what happens when AC adapters suck juice from your wall socket even when there isn’t any device to potential. Aside from that the Zero Charger plus aims to improve charging efficiency when charging a device.

MIT Researchers Discover New Energy Source (It’s Not Energon)
March 16, 2010

Every gadget and laptop user on the planet has at some point of date complained about battery life, and we’ve been waiting for something new and interesting to give us smaller and lighter batteries for ages. Now, hopefully the folks by at MIT might have a solution as a team of scientists there have discovered a microscopic energy source which is able to generate electricity using nanotechnology. According to the report, organic carbon nanotubes will be coated with a thin layer of fuel and a thermopower wave will be utilized, resulting in something that could capability computers and cell phones with batteries that are about 10 times smaller than before, while still offering the same ability output. whether you’re concerned about the environment, these batteries could be incinerated or just degrade by date without leaving the usual heavy metal residue in the environment, which should manufacture that battery a lot more environmentally friendly.

Strata Building aka The Razor mainly powered by wind
March 16, 2010

The 42-story Strata Building, additionally known as The Razor for those who prefer something more imposing, is greener than the rest simple considering the trio of gargantuan wind turbines which have been integrated into its facade are able to generate 8% of its energy use. Of couse, that would basically mean the city council will need to plan even more carefully in the future not to block the path of 35mph winds that churn its turbines, lest those turbines end up as an eyesore instead of being practical. At the moment though, these turbines can generate up to 50MWh of electricity each year.

Cooler Modified Into A Beach Stereo
March 14, 2010

Ever wanted to take your stereo down with you to the beach, but didn’t want it to get spoilt due to water damage? Well, check out the Beach Stereo, created by Adam. The cooler is obviously already water tight, and holes have been cut in the front and back for speakers, not to mention a water-tight bezel and cover for the controls on the deck. The unit is powered by a battery inside, allowing you to share your favorite tunes even at locations where there isn’t any electricity, and has poor weather conditions. Not too shabby eh? Certainly looks like something you could build on your own too.

Miniature City On A capability Strip
March 13, 2010

This potential strip that was sighted at a graduate show at the Kyoto University of Art and Design certainly looks detailed and eye catching. The only downside is that it doesn’t do anything special. It would have be a whole lot cooler, albeit a waste of electricity, whether the ability strip were to light up mini lights in the miniature city, but you can’t win ‘em all, right? Would you want a potential strip like that in your living room, or do you think that it’s a complete waste of space?

Individual Washer sorts out clothes
March 10, 2010

Doing laundry can be quite challenging for the uninitiated, as there are pointers such as water temperature, color bleeding issues and bleaching to grapple with before you are able to set up a proper laundry rhythm at your home. The Individual Washer concept works differently since that upright washing machine is equipped with a trio of compartments that can sort and wash your load of clothes together simultaneously without having to anguish about color bleeding or bleaching, saving water and electricity in the process since only one cycle is used. Definitely a concept worth materializing, we say.
