I’ve said it before. Major manufacturers should start implementing USB 3.0 technology into all shipping gadgets they can. That is the way for a new technology to become widely available in no instance. And what technology. SuperSpeed USB, apart from multiplying transfer speeds by 10, allows to stream video of any quality and resolution, at which I look with healthy enthusiasm. DisplayLink is working on that. So, the technology itself, ASUS has recently announced that they will install their freshly designed USB 3.0 enabled PCIe x4 bridge chip into a (very) wide range of its motherboards. In fact, N Series laptops and latest Eee PC netbooks will now have USB 3.0 chips, as well as machines based on a good dozen other of ASUS motherboards. What’s more, you can buy above mentioned PCIe x4 bridge chip for earlier-released units.

The EasyPeasy 1.6 Release Candidate has just rolled out, where it was built upon Linux-inspired Lucid Lynx cipher, and you can expect EasyPeasy to ship with a number of optimizations which enables it to run on Asus Eee PC netbooks alongside other Intel Atom-powered netbooks. Version 1.6 will see an entirely new boot system alongside boot up artwork, working at a faster pace than before alongside integration with social networks such as Twitter and Facebook. You might notice that its revamped user interface is based on the latest version of the Ubuntu Netbook Edition user interface. Anyone given that download a go yet?

Netbooks generally aren’t dominant devices, but the upcoming Eee PC 1215N from Asus might be able to change that perception. The most notable thing about that netbook will be its dual-core Atom N500 processor, as well as NVIDIA’s next-generation ION chip, along with NVIDIA Optimus technology. There isn’t any mention of how good that netbook’s battery life will be, but hopefully it will be able to live up to the current expectations of battery life for netbooks. Word is going around that the 1215N will be available in June, and while there isn’t any official confirmation on that just yet, we’re certainly looking forward to it.

We recently managed to dig up some details on Asus’ upcoming Eee PC R101 netbook thanks to the leak on its support page. Now it seems that Amazon.de has put the netbooks up for pre-order as well. After poking around Amazon’s German site, you can find the R101 and R101PX available for pre-order with the former offering a 160GB hard drive with Windows XP, priced at $335, and the latter sporting a 250GB hard drive with Windows 7 Starter Edition for about $403. Both computers are powered by a 1.66GHz Intel Atom CPU and offer 1GB of RAM. Is it instance for you to get a new netbook?

The folks at the FCC have taken a look at a new filing for an upcoming Eee PC 900AX netbook, which comes across as no surprise considering the number of Eee PCs which has been released so far until we’ve lost count. We will just have to wait for another 45 days before the FCC releases a filed document for public consumption, so let us keep our hearts open as to which kind of crowd that Eee PC will cater to. Of course, hope springs eternal that that could be the Asus tablet that many citizens have been looking out for to period.

Asus has yet another Eee PC that is being prepared to reach in the US, the Eee PC 1201T. that model retails for $389.99 at Newegg.com, although it does not come with any operating system preloaded save for the quick launching Express Gate, which is why it is basically dirt cheap. You won’t find an Intel Atom processor underneath though since it is powered by a individual core AMD Athlon Neo MV-40 processor instead, accompanied by a 12.1” display at 1,366 x 768 resolution, an ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics card, 2GB RAM, a 160GB hard drive, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi connectivity, 10/100 LAN support, a 0.3-megapixel webcam and a 6-cell battery which can last for half a dozen hours.

At expanded last, the Asus Express Gate can now be downloaded onto your Windows-powered Eee PC netbook, although the 306MB download might be a pain to wait for whether you so happen to be working via a slow World Wide Web connection. Head on to http://www.support.asus.com to choose your Eee PC model before going ahead with the Asus Express Gate download. For the uninitiated, Express Gate enables one to use Web services including Skype while surfing the Web without having to boot up your machine completely, taking only a few seconds to start. Anyone given it a go already?

The folks at Asus seem to have finally got it, as the top management decided to stop manufacturing as well as shipping the recovery DVD which comes with each package of the Eee PC. Why, you ask? Just in case your memory eludes you, there is no optical drive with the Eee PC, so you will need to fork out more money to get an external DVD drive instead, and it would be interesting to do a simple survey and find out just how many Eee PC users actually own a DVD drive. Good shout, Asus, better late than never and at least you will do your bit in saving the environment.

Asus is certainly milking its Eee PC type for all it is worth, throwing in a couple more lines for you to consider before you part with your hard earned money the next moment round. We’re talking about the Eee Pc Diary and the Eee PC Prime, where the former will be a bunch of netbooks that target folks who are always on-the-go (isn’t that who netbooks are meant for in the first place, anyway?), boasting a enlarged battery life with a stronger focus on reliability and mobile connections. As for the Eee PC Prime, it is not a secret Autobot ready to save the world from the clutches of the Decepticons, but will be a high-end Eee PC instead. As for the Eee PC Seashell line, well, that’s a bunch of affordable Eee PCs.
