Asus Express Gate can now be downloaded
March 19, 2010

At expanded last, the Asus Express Gate can now be downloaded onto your Windows-powered Eee PC netbook, although the 306MB download might be a pain to wait for whether you so happen to be working via a slow World Wide Web connection. Head on to http://www.support.asus.com to choose your Eee PC model before going ahead with the Asus Express Gate download. For the uninitiated, Express Gate enables one to use Web services including Skype while surfing the Web without having to boot up your machine completely, taking only a few seconds to start. Anyone given it a go already?

Asus stops shipping recovery DVD with Eee PC
March 13, 2010

The folks at Asus seem to have finally got it, as the top management decided to stop manufacturing as well as shipping the recovery DVD which comes with each package of the Eee PC. Why, you ask? Just in case your memory eludes you, there is no optical drive with the Eee PC, so you will need to fork out more money to get an external DVD drive instead, and it would be interesting to do a simple survey and find out just how many Eee PC users actually own a DVD drive. Good shout, Asus, better late than never and at least you will do your bit in saving the environment.

Asus Eee PC to expand category further
March 11, 2010

Asus is certainly milking its Eee PC type for all it is worth, throwing in a couple more lines for you to consider before you part with your hard earned money the next moment round. We're talking about the Eee Pc Diary and the Eee PC Prime, where the former will be a bunch of netbooks that target folks who are always on-the-go (isn't that who netbooks are meant for in the first place, anyway?), boasting a enlarged battery life with a stronger focus on reliability and mobile connections. As for the Eee PC Prime, it is not a secret Autobot ready to save the world from the clutches of the Decepticons, but will be a high-end Eee PC instead. As for the Eee PC Seashell line, well, that's a bunch of affordable Eee PCs.

The folks by at Asus decided to assemble the Eee PC 1005PR official by putting up its page online, making it the latest member of the Eee PC Seashell family. You will find the Broadcom Crystal HD graphics accelerator inside, which translates to smooth playback of high definition quality video on your little netbook - something not all netbooks can claim to do. Other specifications include a 10.1" LED Backlight WXGA display, an Intel Atom Pineview N450 processor, 1GB RAM, a 250GB hard drive, the Broadcom BCM 70015 chipset, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity as well as Windows 7 Starter Edition holding everything together.

Asus Eee PC 1201PN at CeBIT
March 3, 2010

Asus' presence at CeBIT is not complete whether they do not roll out at least one more Eee PC machine, and the Taiwanese company does not disappoint with the Eee PC 1201PN gracing CeBIT's showfloor, powered by an Intel Atom N450 processor, NVIDIA's Ion GPU, a 12.1" WXVGA LED-backlit display, 1GB RAM, a 160GB hard drive, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 connectivity, an HDMI port and a 6-cell Li-Ion battery. No view on pricing or availability though, but we like the MacBook Air-like resemblance.

Eee PC 1001PQ for the little ones
March 1, 2010

Asus seems bent on capturing just about every market when it comes to their Eee PC range, with the Eee PC 1001PQ targeting your little ones with the latest Intel Atom N450 processor running within. Expec to see the Eee PC 1001PQ launched at CeBIT tomorrow, where you can choose within Yellow and Black as well as Black and Purple color combinations. What makes that stand out for kids would be its colored palm rest, but apart from that expect it to work like just any other netbook including its rather staple specifications such as a 10.1" LCD LED Backlit WSVGA resolution (1,024 x 600), 1GB RAM, a 160GB hard drive, an Intel NM10 Express chipset, a VGA webcam, a memory card slot, Wi-Fi connectivity, and Windows 7 as the operating system of choice.

Eee PCs get BIOS which updates brightness level
March 1, 2010

Asus recently released new BIOS updates for the Eee PC 1001P and 1005PE models which will update the brightness table. To put it in layman's terms, that means that owners of both netbooks are able to enjoy an increased brightness level in their display, although we would like to know from existing owners whether it is bright abundant already as it is without the need for the BIOS update. Just be prepared to charge your Eee PC more often whether you decide to go full strength with the new update!
