Will Wars Be Taken Underground With The Robotic Underground Munition?
March 16, 2010

Sure, we battle on the land, sea, and in the air, but could the next phase of war be underground? Based on the US Defense Threat Reduction Agency’s desire for a robot that is capable of navigating underground, it could well be that we’ll have to guard against underground threats in the future too. The aftereffect of that notion is the Robotic Underground Munition (RUM), an underground robot that would first soft land, next start drilling into the earth until it reaches its target, which it will next presumably blow up some way or another. All is fair in love and war, isn’t it?

IBM unveils new potential processors
February 9, 2010

IBM has recently rolled out its latest version of the ability processors that are touted to lay the foundation for companies' green IT efforts, while helping the company's bottomline by opening up new revenue streams. The capability 7 chips will utilize a mere 25% of the energy used by its predecessor, the potential 6, although it boasts double the performance. Main rivals for the potential 7 chips would include Sparc and Niagara processors from Suna nd Hewlett-Packard's Itanium chips. Good to see IBM helping keep the earth green - let us hope that other companies will additionally not let up on their efforts.

Earthquake Detector Robot
February 6, 2010

With the recent earthquake in Haiti, the importance of earthquake detectors has been highlighted again. Now a group of students from the JT Engineering College in Gujarat, India, have come up with a robot that can sense earthquakes, and it apparently does so a good three hours before the earthquake. Of course, three hours isn’t a lot of moment, but when you’re talking about a natural catastrophe, three hours will certainly save a lot of lives. that robot has two transmitters whose circuits are kept inside the earth to sense changes in temperature and water levels, as well as transmit the info about the changes via microwave frequencies. It uses microcontrollers to sense vibrations and will give off an alarm upon detection. Of course, the question remains why that device needed to be built into a robot structure factor, but robots are cool, so nobody’s going to complain, right? Check out a video of it whether you’re into robots.

AirMouse worn like a glove
January 28, 2010

If Michael Jackson was still moonwalking on that earth, the AirMouse is one "glove" he wouldn't touch with a 10-foot pole - it doesn't cover his naked hand completely, which means there isn't any space to sprinkle those glittery bits all by. That shouldn't bother Deanmark Ltd. of Canada, as that wearable wireless mouse relies on an optical laser to help you navigate your computer in a more ergonomic manner without sacrificing on mouse speed and accuracy. Don't anguish that scratching your nose with your mouse hand will form the pointer flail all by the display - it remains inactive until your hand is placed in a specific neutral position. Expect the AirMouse to hit the market within a year's duration for $129. Would you bother getting one?
