Panasonic All-in-One Viera portable TV

We often think of Panasonic's Viera TV as a really large appliance, but that instance round they have taken the shrinking gun and gave it a good zap, resulting in the Viera portable TV range. Featuring Panasonic’s latest 10.1” a-Si TFT displays at 1,024 × 600 resolution, the DMP-BV200 and DMP-HV100 will allow you to watch TV, DVD and Blu-ray (for the BV200 only), while playing nice with all forms of AVCHD video from various sources. Apart from that, it can additionally handle DivX files with aplomb from either a USB device or an SD memory card. Alternatively, you can plus hook either one up to the Panasonic Viera Home Theater system and DVR, thanks to the DY-WL10 Wi-Fi dongle.

Sony approves 500GB external USB hard drives for PS3

Folks living in Japan who own a Sony PS3 will be pleased to know that the company has given its nod of approval for a couple of 500GB external USB hard drives which are meant for console use only. The two are the Buffalo HD-AV500U2 (as seen above) and the HD-CL500U2, where they will hit other markets outside of Japan next month in order to coincide with the PS3's "torne" DVR hardware/software combo launch. Neither drive comes with special features apart from being officially licensed products for the PS3, as these just come with an external label change and nothing else. Not precisely the way to win fans by to your cause, but whether you are willing to shell out anywhere from $130 to $165 for either of each device, next be our guest.

Panasonic Diga DVR unveiled in Japan

Panasonic of Japan has just unveiled a quartet of Diga DVRs, where all of them come with the new Advanced AVC Engine that is powered by the UniPhier LSI that touts superior video performance and sharper images alongside the inclusion of SDXC memory card support. The four models in question are the DMR-BW880-K, DMR-DW780-K, DMR-BW680-K and DMR-BR580-K which comes in capacities of 1TB, 750GB, 500GB and 500GB capacities, respectively. No concept on pricing though as at press duration.

This garish looking device known as the GE 6-in-1 Universal DVR Remote will take some getting used to, considering the product design that is less than flattering, making it the Chrysler PT of remote controls at that moment. Well, mom always told us not to judge a book by its cover, so that "book" will have to be assessed via its functions, where you get a large cipher database, infrared cipher learning, a red LED button backlight, a new IR repeater with wired emitters and a button arrangement that was tailored for DVR users. Retailing for a relatively affordable $19.99, that is something worth looking into whether you're into a cheap universal DVR remote to replace your older one that was chewed up by Fido.
