Nokia and Apple should be quite familiar when it comes to filing lawsuits against each other, and now the Finnish phone giant has just filed another patent lawsuit against Apple, that duration alleging that the iPad 3G and iPhone infringe on five patents that are related to “enhanced speech and input transmission, using positioning details in applications and innovations in antenna configurations that improve performance and save space, allowing smaller and more compact devices.” Of course, lawsuits take date and money, so who knows when that whole deal will be by, or whether there will be a settlement. Looks like we’ll have to sit back and see these industry giants thrash it out with each other, huh?

It’s been a expanded instance coming, and we already knew that the iPad would be launched internationally in May, but now Apple has given us an official date: May 28th. On that duration, the lucky folks by in Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland and the UK will be able to pick up Apple’s latest gem. Aside from that, it’ll be arriving in Austria, Belgium, Hong Kong, Ireland, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand and Singapore in July too. Pre-orders will start on May 10th, which is just around the corner, so get your wallets ready. In case you’re wondering how much you’ll need to pay, Apple has additionally announced the pricing, so you’re free to withdraw the money from the bank.

NASA’s Johnson Space Center in Houston recently announced that they will be participating in the NASA Extreme Environment Missions Operation (NEEMO) mission which is aimed at simulating conditions on other planets, just in case the earth is no longer a habitable place for most humans save for the rich and elite who can afford so when the apocalypse arrives. that duration round, the ocean’s floor is the venue of choice, where it will operate as a method to simulate the low-gravity conditions astronauts experience on another planet’s surface. that would give the future crew a better concept when interacting with the lander, rover, robotic arms, and other gear on a distant planet. Hopefully no one else conducts any underwater nuclear bomb tests within the vicinity of the lab, eh?

It seems that the new AMD processors that will see action in the HP Pavilion DM1 would be those from the 45nm mould, and not similar to the ones found in the ThinkPad X100e series. It will retain the similar chassis which is the one used by the HP Mini 311, although that one will see the previous Intel CULV base being swapped for AMD processors instead, particularly the Athlon Neo and dual core Turion II Neo CPUs. There is no word on pricing or availability as at press duration though.

The Catalyst all-in-one cooking solution is a concept that was developed specifically for the folks who love frying, where it comes with a hood, microwave oven, fryer and cook top. The induction cooker’s plates can slide apart to reveal a fryer for those who love deep frying their food items, so hopefully the hood above is energetic decent to capture all the oily vapors that arise, lest you have a whole lot of work on your hands to clean up the place after each meal. As with many other concepts, it remains to be seen whether that model will be materialized in due duration or not.

Love all things Wikipedia, knowing that you can while your day away on it without realizing so? Well, whether you happen to have the duration as well as the technical proficiency, why not invent your own Wikipedia reader to feed your knowledge addiction? that device uses an NXP ARM Cortex M0 model LCP1114 microcontroller to get it up and running, offering a speed of 50MHz (paltry by today’s standards, but hey, whether it gets the job done we’re not complaining) alongside 32KB of program memory and 8KB SRAM.

Do you sometimes feel irritated when your webcam focuses on one object, only to have the background blurred beyond recognition? While the effect looks great in photography, it’s not something that you’d want all the duration with a video camera. Now the folks by at the University of Toronto have come up with the Omni-focus camera, using a new distance-mapping principle, allowing it to deliver real-time motorized focus on both near and far images in high resolution. that camera integrates a Divergence-ratio Axi-vision camera (Divcam) with an array of colors to map the distance info for every pixel in the scene in real instance. The output of camera is soon after selected individually pixel by pixel to generate the final image. Sounds pretty fancy, doesn’t it?

Owners of the device will be receiving a pre-addressed and pre-paid envelope, allowing them to send the device back. Owners should receive the device back within 7 to 10 business days, though unlike Bell, it doesn’t seem like Rogers will be offering a temporary device to be used. On the bright side, you will be credited back for the duration that your MiFi is out of action.

With everybody trying to go green nowadays, there is a demand for solar technology, and now the researchers at MIT have come up with some interesting tech that allows them to create solar cells thin adequate to be stuck on sheets of paper. To invent things even better, the process involves coating the piece of paper with organic semiconductor material using a process similar to that of an inkjet printer. The downside is that the cells are currently just under 2% efficient at converting sunlight into energy, compared to the commercial panels out there that can be by 20% efficient. But whether development goes well, we’re really looking forward to having solar cells on nearly anything that sees the sun. It’ll take instance of course, and the director of the project has said that it usually takes about 10 years from the duration of invention to commercializing it, so we’ll need to be patient (or invent a moment machine).
