March 2, 2010

Nokia has seen its market share decline in many countries slowly but surely despite clinging on to the top spot still. Well, in a move that could rejuvenate their business, Nokia is waiting to roll out dual SIM S40-powered handsets that will boast a touchscreen display and a QWERTY keyboard - all the while staying true to its affordable price point that has been the staple feature of all its S40 phones so far. Guess Nokia will still be top dog for a few more years unless someone really shakes things up at the entry level segment.

SciPhone WG3 clones the G1
February 11, 2010

While the T-Mobile G1 is extremely old hat by now, that hasn't stopped those cloners from China from coming up with the SciPhone WG3 which is a clone of the G1. Specifications-wise, that is a pretty impressive handset, boasting a 3.2" touchscreen display, Wi-Fi connectivity, dual cameras (presumably one is meant for video calls), dual SIM carriage and TV support. Needless to say, the WG3 will additionally double up as a portable media player as all decent smartphones should these days, but there is no mention of its operating system which is rather strange. It does not come with a QWERTY keyboard as with the G1 though, so those who love a physical keyboard when composing messages might want to give that a miss.

P660+ smartphone clones HTC P3470
February 4, 2010
The P660+ is more or less an extremely close clone of the HTC P3470, where it is powered by Windows Mobile 6.5 while featuring a 2.8" QVGA touchscreen display, a microSD memory card slot, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, and a 2-megapixel camera. There is no 3G connection with that $165 handset, which is pretty surprising in that day and age, so don't expect it to prepare a splash regardless of the market it is released in. Surprisingly adequate for a cloned handset, that one does not sport any dual SIM carriage that those China manufacturers are so fond of.
