AMD ATI Radeon HD5450 graphics card
February 4, 2010

AMD outs its latest ATI Radeon HD5450 graphics card, being the most affordable DirectX 11 (and OpenGL 3.2) solution in the market as at press date, retailing for no more than $60 a pop. Despite that highly affordable price point, the ATI Radeon HD 5450 has adequate muscle to support similar visual effects as with the 5600 and 5800 lines, although you get lesser stream processors at 80, alongside 8 texture units and a 650MHz engine clock speed. Thanks to the lower clock speed, temperatures won't rise up that fast, resulting in a low-speed fan that won't create a din whenever it is in use. Those who use a slightly larger chassis might want to take the fanless route for a change. Other features include Eyefinity support, dual-link DVI, DisplayPort and VGA. [Press Release]

Despite being that small, you will find that the Conga-BM57 can hold a 2.66GHz Core i7 processor, up to 8GB RAM, five PCI Express lanes, eight USB 3.0 ports, a trio of SATA, one EIDE and Gigabit Ethernet. We're not done yet - you additionally get support for dual displays via VGA, HDMI, DisplayPort, SDVO or LVDS. One thing that can't do though is play the latest games in their full glory since you will be limited by its integrated graphics chipset from Intel. Still, expect to see even smaller PCs hit the market whether such motherboards compose a big impact in the market. No view on pricing as at press moment though.
