DigitalRise S1 Slate To Preempt Apple Tablet

Apple’s tablet is still a few days away from being officially announced, and it seems like manufacturers are still trying to preempt Apple and get some momentum built up before Apple’s highly-anticipated device is unleashed in that world. With that in mind, DigitalRise has released its S1 Slate, which is a cheaper version of its multitouch-capable X9. Of course, nobody’s going to blame you whether you wait a few more days to see what Apple offers before making a buying decision, but there’s no harm in checking out that $630 tablet in the meantime, right? Specifications include:

  • Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz
  • 1GB RAM
  • 160GB hard disk
  • 10.2-inch display at 1024 x 600 resolution
  • 3000mAh lithium-ion battery
  • 1.3 megapixel webcam
  • Wi-Fi
  • Windows 7

DigitalRise PC-729 tablet

The DigitalRise PC-729 tablet offers a refreshing look at the tablet market, since it comes with a 7" touchscreen display, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity, all powered by an ARM9 processor. One major drawback would be its 128MB RAM which by today's standards, doesn't seem to cut the mustard any more, while its 7" touchscreen display has a relatively low resolution of just 480 x 272 pixels. Would those obvious setbacks cause you to fork out $355 for the DigitalRise PC-729?
