Adobe’s disappointment with Apple by the terms of its iPhone SDK has been quite obvious, and the whole issue has put Apple in the spotlight, with a possible FTC antitrust exploration looming. That being said, word is going around that Apple could avoid a possible examination by changing the terms of its iPhone 4.0 SDK to allow developers write iPhone apps using other tools, such as Adobe’s Flash CS5 or MonoTouch. Of course, it’s hard to imagine Apple reversing its decision on the terms of its SDK, but let’s wait and see what the end aftermath is.

Looks like Google isn’t the only company that likes to give its employees free Android-powered cell phones, as reports are in that Adobe is plus preparing to give its employees Android-powered cell phones. that is probably related to the upcoming release of Flash 10.1 for Android devices, as well as the recent disagreement with Apple by Flash on the iPhone/iPad. It wasn’t specifically mentioned whether all employees or just Adobe’s developers would be getting the Android devices, but considering that Adobe has about 8,600 employees worldwide, chances are that developers are going to be the lucky ones. What device would be given wasn’t specifically mentioned, but the common trend seems to be Google’s Nexus One and Motorola’s Droid.

Developers out there will want to take note that Apple has started to seed Mac OS X 10.6.4 beta for developers. The current build being seeded is build 10F37 which apparently focuses on graphics drivers, SMB, instance Machine backups, USB and VoiceOver functionality. One of the known issues is one that is related to password requests when a user launches iChat. The official release moment for the OS hasn’t been announced yet, but possibly we’ll get a tip in the upcoming WWDC in June.

Motorola has decided to ditch Google’s Android location services with Skyhook Wireless instead, a company that hails from Boston, MA. that could be due to the less than accurate positioning info that plagued Google’s integrated system, making it a minus point for handset manufacturers and Android app developers. Motorola took the pro-active approach by looking to Skyhook Wireless, where their service merges with Wi-Fi hotspot triangulation, cell tower triangulation and GPS info in order to offer fast and accurate location knowledge. Guess we can look forward to upcoming Motorola phones, eh?

Word is out that Geohot, the famous iPhone hacker, has registered the domain http://limera1n.com, and the domain whois record matches that of the blackra1n website. There isn’t any official word as to what Limera1n will be used for, but speculation is going around that it will be the tool to jailbreak the upcoming iPhone OS 4.0. It’s worth noting that Geohot has already managed to jailbreak the iPhone OS 4.0 when it was released to developers, but we’re still waiting for the official release of the OS to the general public, which could be where Limera1n would come into play. What do you think?

Just when you thought that Apple and Adobe could not get along, we have word from a discovered technical document that points toward a new Video Decode Acceleration framework within Mac OS X 10.6.3. In layman’s terms, that framework will offer developers with low-level access to the following GPUs – NVIDIA GeForce 9400M, GeForce 320M or GeForce GT 330M, which lets them access the graphical hardware to accelerate the decoding of H.264 videos, hence releasing the main processor for other tasks. Basically, you get a sped up system with a Flash player that runs smoother than ever before. Expect to see that boost encapsulate the MacBook Pro, Mac mini and iMac.

Despite Palm being beset by a whole bunch of bad news, at least there are some positive developments coming from the company, as it has just introduced its Ares development tool, allowing developers to create applications within a browser. Since Palm is hosting the development environment in the cloud, it should be a lot easier to access it. whether that helps spur app development in Palm’s App Catalog, it’s certainly a good move, as Apple has shown that a well populated App Store is a great asset. whether you’re part of Palm’s developer program, you’ll be able to access it for free. From the looks of it, it’s pretty cool.

Apparently Palm isn’t the only one who is trying to ramp up app development for its mobile application store, as word is going around that Google is actively trying to attract iPhone app developers to develop apps for the Android platform. It seems that a representative from the Android Advocacy Group contacted Texts From Last Night’s creator to set up a relationship, as well as ship a free Nexus One phone, regardless of whether he picked up the project or not. that is quite a contrasting move, as Apple rejected the Texts From Last Night app from its App Store before that. There isn’t any indication of how widespread that campaign is, but whether you’re a developer and whether you’re offered a free phone, would you take it?

While most folks would use Amazon’s Kindle for reading eBooks, it seems like there is a possibility to get Super Mario Bros running on it too, though whether you’d want to play Super Mario Bros on it is a whole different issue. What the developers by at KLab did is they poped a NES emulator for the Kindle, and in the video (after the jump) it’s running in a Kindle Emulator. Of course, since the Kindle is not a gaming device, you can expect some limitations, such as the lack of color, and refresh issues, since the ePaper display can only refresh so fast. The source cipher has additionally been shared, in case you want to take up that project too.
