When you talk of an ultra-thin notebook, Apple’s MacBook Air and Dell’s Adamo XPS would automatically come to mind. Now it seems that Toshiba wants to be included in that elite group as well, as a recent leak reveals. According to the leak, Toshiba is planning to churn out a system that will be powered by Intel’s Core i7 processor but still be small ample to fit into the ultra-thin category, thanks to some exotic cooling and construction. It will be using a system dubbed “Mountain Blaze” to lower the heat, and would be made out of a unibody, honeycomb structure, ensuring that it’s still hard, despite its dimensions. The system is targeted to weigh 2.4 pounds and will sport a 512GB SSD and could possibly be the first notebook to use Toshiba’s SCiB battery. whether everything works out hunky dory, the system would be shipping sometime that summer and could offer options of using Intel’s Core i3 or i5 processors as well. You can expect such a notebook to burn quite a deep gap on your wallet, so you’d better start saving now.

You might have been hearing blurbs about processor shortages from Intel recently, and now it seems like the situation is set to continue, as analysts and chip resellers have warned that the shortage might not break until May at the earliest. Thanks to the shortage, there is a low supply of Intel’s mobile Core i3, i5 and i7 processors, which apparently have led to some companies to pay up to a 20 percent premium in order to ensure that they get sufficient supplies. According to reports, the smaller companies are those more likely to be affected as Intel often prioritizes larger companies by smaller ones, which shouldn’t be surprising, after all, they offer more business. With that in mind, it seems that major computer builders, such as Apple, Dell and HP, haven’t faced significant shortages. It was even rumored that Acer might be related to the shortage, as the company is gearing up to promote its TimelineX notebooks.

Looks like more leaks from Dell has just happened, that moment round with a couple of devices known as the Sparta and Athens. These Greek-named devices will be powered by either Android or Linux, where the Sparta netbook tablet comes with not-so-Spartan features such as an 11″ TFT display at 1,024 x 768 resolution, an ARM processor, optional connectivity modules (3G, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth) and a swivel mechanism which allows the display itself to rotate within its frame. Trippin’! As for the Athens, that netbook comes with a similar display size, an ARM processor as well as aforementioned optional connectivity modules. Expect both devices to be delivered to the market sometime that autumn.

The Dell Aero’s specifications has been leaked, although we do know some about that smartphone from earlier news. Ready to hit the market sometime in that Q2 from AT, the Dell Aero runs off a 624MHz Marvell processor and comes complete with a 3.5″ capacitive multi-touch display, a stylus, QuickOffice pre-loaded to get you up and running right out of the box where mobile productivity is concerned, as well as support for Microsoft Exchange and ActiveSync. Hopefully the Android 1.5 OS will see an update shortly after the Dell Aero is released, where leaked documents has pointed to an Android 2.1 update released either in Q3 and Q4.
