We recently brought your attention to the upcoming Kindle 2.5 firmware update that will bring social network integration to Amazon’s Kindle, and now it seems that the folks by at Ars Technica have managed to get hold of the firmware before it’s officially released, and they’ve been kind sufficient to upload pictures of it in action. As we previously mentioned, the most notable features of the upcoming firmware would be the new “Collections” feature that allows you to sort your books into groups and the ability to share a passage from a book with your Twitter and Facebook friends. The downside of the Facebook and Twitter integration is that it only allows you to share the composition in a anatomy of a link instead of the actual quote, but it’s still better than nothing, right?

[Web 2.0] Pearltrees defined itself as the “leading-edge social web curation tool and discovery platform”, personally, I prefer “visual collaborative web browsing interface“, the word “platform” is overrated these days. At the Web 2.0 Expo in San Francisco, the company, selected as one of only five companies to present at the Launch Pad event, unveiled its latest feature, the “super embed”. subject matter publishers will be able to gather web pages related to a topic, organize them into “pearl trees” and embed them in their composition pages, soon after readers will be able to browse these pages from the embedded pearl trees and read the related substance without leaving the commentary page. See an example embedded above, I copied Tom Foremski’s pearl tree titled “Tuesday Web 2.0 Expo Report”, check out his blog: Silicon Valley Watcher

Word is going around that Hulu might have to abandon its UK launch for the moment. Apparently advertising talks with ITV have broken down considering the broadcaster wants to focus on growing its own service – ITV Player. With that in mind, it isn’t too keen to syndicate out its subject matter to a third party. The main issue is that Hulu wants to be able to control the advertising that comes with the composition, something that ITV, Channel 4 and Five aren’t too comfortable with. With that, Hulu is said to have been forced to abandon its UK expansion plans after failing to sign any contract deals. Were you looking forward to Hulu in the UK?

Packard Bell has unveiled its new range of EasyNote M notebooks, where you can choose from 14″, 15.6″ and 17.3″ models. All three will come with an anti-fingerprint matte finish and a quartet of colors to choose from – Silk Silver, NightSky Black, Starlight White and Cashmere Red. The committed “Social Networks key” will launch a sidebar when pressed, giving you quick access to Facebook, YouTube and Flickr composition. Guess a normal widget can do that, but at least that comes right out of the box. Nice to know an HDMI port is included since you can opt to throw in a Blu-ray drive whether DVD isn’t good suitable for you. No word on pricing, but expect the Packard Bell EasyNote M notebooks to roll out sometime before the month is by.

Those images of the iPhone 4G that have been turning up have a bit more of a story to go with them now. After a tear down, the device found in a bar in California is apparently the real deal lost by an employee out for a night on the town. Someone needs to dust off their resume.

Apple has really given weight to the iPhone 4g prototype that was found in the bar I just mentioned by asking Gizmodo to give the device back. Each duration the company demands images or composition come down, it’s seen as an admission that said composition is real by many.

Sister site SlashGear has its own iPhone app that is now available on the App Store for folks to download. It offers updates on new stories on the site.

Moject (Motion Projection) looks like it’s rather cool. What it does is it allows devices to interact with projected composition, offering you a different way to interact with your devices. Devices such as handheld consoles, game consoles, computers, laptops and even mobile phones could get some cool features from that technology. You can check out a video in the full post showing an iPhone with a pico-projector bolted on, and using the iPhone’s accelerometer to recognize movements.

3D looks set to stay, with the DXG-321 consumer level camera boasting a 3D viewfinder, recording standard definition video as well as shooting still images in 2D or 3D, depending on your choice. It is equipped with a flip-out 3.2″ LCD display that operate as a viewscreen when recording, while a 7″ display will show off 3D composition without the need for special 3D glasses (could that be supplied by Sharp?). that 3D camcorder will invent full use of side-by-side lenses to capture images from a couple of perspectives. All stills are captured in resolutions of up to 5 megapixels, while videos can be stored onto an SD memory card in AVI format. You won’t find any HDMI output for that though, since it doesn’t handle full HD recording. Expect the DXG-321 to retail for $600 thereabouts when it hits the market.

Microsoft has just launched its new phone service called Kin, along with two devices, named Kin 1 and Kin 2. The view was to create a phone for heavy texters and those who love to stay in touch with friends and family through social networks. Microsoft has introduced a whole new user interface for its phones with design elements borrowed from Windows 7 and it looks very good (photos coming shortly). Kin 1 and Kin 2 will sync all their subject matter and contacts directly with the cloud – at all times. whether you lose your phone, just get a new one and re-sync, that’s it. On the desktop side, Microsoft has a web browser application that shows you the phone composition, but in the comfortable space of a desktop monitor. You can interact with the subject matter, do whatever you want with the files (on the local disk) and see a view of your friends’ updates. The whole thing is brilliant and it could shake the Teen Smartphone market.
