RIM Offers BlackBerry Push Services To All BlackBerry Developers
March 17, 2010

RIM had previously mentioned that it would be making the BlackBerry Push APIs available to all developers for free in the first half of 2010, and it seems that the company is going to build good on that promise by offering two levels of push services. that is additionally great news for the end user, as while applications out there already produce use of push services, the services cost quite a bit for developers to implement, so with the latest offerings, developers should be able to cut down the cost of their applications, or perhaps even offer them for free. The push services offered are:
- BlackBerry Push Essentials - is a free service that developers can incorporate into their applications and allows them to push composition to their customers with unparalleled immediacy.
- BlackBerry Push Plus - which has a free tier and paid tiers, provides developers with notification that their push has been delivered. whether a composition provider needs to get info to someone, they can tell whether the target device has received the push.

Google and Dish Network working on TV search service
March 9, 2010

Hmmm, is Google so overwhelming that they're going to expand their search service to TVs? We suppose so, with Google and Dish Network coming together to pop quiz a TV search service on a grade new box which has elements of the Android operating system within. The box itself will come with a QWERTY remote, where you can look for Dish composition as well as take advantage of other services including YouTube. that collaboration won't be arriving at consumers' doorsteps anytime soon, but will instead be "limited to a very small number of Google employees and their families and could be discontinued at any time" where trials are concerned.

Robot Helps With Tedious Job Of Sorting Plastic For Recycling
March 3, 2010

While everybody is trying to go green and get into the whole recycling trend, having to sort through the plastics in the pre-recycle sort isn’t precisely fun or easy. Factor in the deal that the recycle numbers stamped on most plastic containers don’t accurately indicate whether they can be recycled together or not, and you’ve got one troublesome process. Fortunately, the folks by at Mitsubishi Electric Engineering Corp and Osaka University are busy trying to solve the problem, with robots. Said robot will be able to utilize five lasers of different wavelengths to determine the reflectivity index, and therefore the composition of the plastics, allowing them to be separated via automation, rather than getting a human being to do it. There isn’t any mention of how much plastic that machine can sort through on a daily basis, but we hope that it’ll be a lot faster than getting human beings to sort through it. You’ll need to shell out about $55,000 to get one of these robots, though. It’s good to see that we’re moving forward towards a greener future.
