Windows 7 XP Mode barrier removed
March 19, 2010

Microsoft has removed a barrier for its Windows 7's XP Mode, where initially it called for a computer processor which supports hardware virtualization as well as turning on the feature in the computer's BIOS (basic input/output system). that has led to some confusion since not all PC owners had it easy when it comes to determining the compatibility of their system. Well, good news - Microsoft has announced that folks who run Windows 7 can use XP Mode without needing to have prior info on whether their PC processor supports hardware virtualization or not.

Thunderbird Lanikai Beta 1 Released
March 12, 2010

Mozilla has officially launched the first beta of Thunderbird 3 today, codenamed Lanikai. It’s available for Windows, Mac and Linux, so compatibility shouldn’t be much of an issue. The goal of that release is to smooth out the problems created by upgrading the Gecko engine that powers the program, and that is the first semi-stable release of Mozilla’s mail client to use Gecko 1.9.2. The final version of Thunderbird 3.1 is expected to be available sometime in June, though the moment hasn’t been set in stone yet, so there is still a possibility the release term to be changed.

Onn V8HD portable media player
March 8, 2010

The Onn V8HD portable media player will continue where the V8 left off, where you get a 4.3" display, support for a wide range of popular file formats, ebook compatibility (with the TXT format, of course) and the ability to browse through your collection of photos. Just in case its 8GB of internal memory is not ample, there is always a microSD memory card slot to further up the ante. Its 2,000 mAh battery is capable of keeping the V8HD going for up to 10 hours where video is concerned, while audiophiles can enjoy up to 35 hours of continuous music. No word on pricing at press instance though.
