What do you think the co-founder of Apple thinks about the iPad? While you might not be able to set up an interview with him, we do know that he will be getting in line on Friday night to queue up for the iPad, and he’s ordered three, two for him, and one for a friend. Of the two he’s purchasing, one will be the Wi-Fi version, and the other will be the 3G version. Apparently he wasn’t sold on the iPad initially, but the additional real estate on the iPad probably changed his mind. On a side note, he claims that he’s solved the issue of multitasking on the iPhone, as well as the battery life issue, by carrying around 2 iPhones. So whether he needs to multitask, he just uses the other iPhone, and whether the battery runs out on one, he has the other. It’s a funny (but interesting) way to work around the problem, isn’t it?

[SXSW] At SXSW, I met with Sam Altman, co-founder and CEO, of Loopt, a location-based social networking site, and he showed me the new Loopt app for the iPhone. Loopt introduced its new Pulse button that allows SXSW attendees to access a consolidated guide for all the panels, films, bands, and parties going on at SXSW (Pulse! tab > Events) From there users can listen to music clips from the SXSW bands and see who else is going on Facebook. Loopt was one of the first successful mobile location-based social networking site, but now competing with trendy new comers Gowalla and Foursquare, who added a gaming component to the regular location-based social networking, the company had to release a check-in feature 5 months ago.

According to Sam Altman, the site counts now by 3 millions users, and the new Pulse feature include tens of thousands of local events, allow check-in to events, public Tips, and the ability to RSVP to events posted on Facebook. New partners SonicLiving, Zvents and Metromix are giving access to music and entertainment subject matter to Loopt users.

You may have thought that Yelp was crazy to turn down a $500 million offer from Google a while back, but the review site has gotten a nice little windfall from Elevation Partners, a private equity firm in Silicon Valley. The firm has invested a good $100 million into Yelp, and Elevation co-founder Marc Bodnick will additionally be joining Yelp’s board of directors. Could 2010 be a good year for Yelp? Reports came in that Yelp first achieved a positive cash-flow late last year, and that’s certainly a good start. This is far from an official confirmation that the Apple Tablet exists, but Apple’s co-founder, Steve Wozniak, has said that he would purchase the Apple Tablet next year, whether such a thing existed, of course. It’s nice to see that he’s (obviously) very loyal to Apple products, but we’re fairly certain everybody around him is trying to see whether he has any insider data on the upcoming products, be it the Apple Tablet or iPhone 4G.

It seems like Twitter co-founder, Jack Dorsey, isn’t the only one who thinks that the iPhone would construct a great platform to process payments. Not too faraway after introducing Square, VeriFone announced PAYware Mobile, which is a combination of an iPhone/iPod touch app, and a swipe card reader, allowing merchants to accept and process credit cards on the go. that product is expected to ship in January, and will be free with a 2-year contract with VeriFone, though there isn’t any word on pricing just yet. One thing folks might want to take note is that Square seems to be aimed more for ad-hoc usage, folks who don’t have merchant accounts, but VeriFone is looking at the larger retail stores. So will there be room for everyone? We’ll have to wait and see. Check out a video on it here.
