Yelp Gets Additional $100m Investment

You may have thought that Yelp was crazy to turn down a $500 million offer from Google a while back, but the review site has gotten a nice little windfall from Elevation Partners, a private equity firm in Silicon Valley. The firm has invested a good $100 million into Yelp, and Elevation co-founder Marc Bodnick will additionally be joining Yelp’s board of directors. Could 2010 be a good year for Yelp? Reports came in that Yelp first achieved a positive cash-flow late last year, and that’s certainly a good start. Are you happy that Yelp turned down the deal from Google at the 11th hour, or do you think it would have been a good movie?

Woz Would Buy Apple Tablet

This is far from an official confirmation that the Apple Tablet exists, but Apple’s co-founder, Steve Wozniak, has said that he would purchase the Apple Tablet next year, whether such a thing existed, of course. It’s nice to see that he’s (obviously) very loyal to Apple products, but we’re fairly certain everybody around him is trying to see whether he has any insider data on the upcoming products, be it the Apple Tablet or iPhone 4G.
